Three weeks into the Autumn Intensive, the painters have been busy in their studios at Turps HQ, alongside a programme of talks, workshops, weekly individual mentoring, studio visits, and gallery walks. We look forward to sharing their work in the exhibition in early December. This Intensive’s cohort brings together Alex Heim, Anna Morrissey, Daniela Napuri, Emily North, Lucy Dickie, Olga Sorokina, Rebecca Odessa, Shooq AlShawi, and Tal Levy. Each Intensive brings together a small group of artists to work closely over eight weeks, with regular mentoring, critique, and events, culminating in a final exhibition at Turps Gallery. Designed for painters seeking concentrated studio time, regular mentoring, and a strong peer group, the Intensives offer a focused alternative to a full-year programme. They are particularly well suited to artists based outside London or overseas, as well as those balancing studio practice with other work or responsibilities. Applicants should have an established painting practice and be ready to develop their work intensively within a supportive, critical environment. Applications for 2026/27 Intensives are open and reviewed on a rolling basis. To apply or find out more click the link in bio to 🔗 by @turpsbanana

“The recent Turps Summer Intensive showed how productive and rewarding an 8 week programme can be. It was fantastic to see this cohort of international painters all coming together to make their work whilst being supported by the mentoring and peer-to-peer discussions. A big thank you to all the painters, mentors, visiting artists and guests who contributed to such a successful Intensive!” –Scott McCracken, Turps Summer Intensive Programme Leader Thank you to all the Summer Intensive painters for making this programme so vibrant, and for fostering such a strong sense of camaraderie and mutual support. Alongside an impressive level of studio productivity, there were crits, artist talks, gallery visits, studio visits, impromptu lunches, dinners, and pub catch-ups, and the final exhibition. It was a wonderful celebration of the spirit of Turps. A brilliant initiative from our 2025/26 Turps Correspondence Course painters! Full details below 🍌 Unpeeled Private View: Saturday 12 September, 2-6pm 10–13 September 2026 Downstairs at The Department Store, Brixton, London 👉 @_painterpainter_ Forty-six painters. Forty-six ways of making. One exhibition. Unpeeled is the first London exhibition by 𝘱𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘱𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳, a collective of 46 artists formed through the Turps Banana Correspondence Course 2025/26, one of the UK’s leading independent painting programmes. The collective’s first London exhibition, Unpeeled, presents new work by artists at different stages of their careers, each with a distinct approach to painting. Rather than proposing a single theme or aesthetic, the exhibition embraces plurality, creating space for different ways of making, thinking and looking to exist alongside one another. The works reflect the breadth and diversity of contemporary painting today, shaped by a year of dialogue, studio practice and exchange. ‘I joined the Turps Spring Intensive looking to be in a space with artists eager for change. When I applied, I was struggling to step outside my comfort zone when painting new works; I needed to question my choices more actively to develop a growing and sustainable practice. The mentoring, group critiques, and daily studio conversations gave me fresh perspectives and practical advice I wanted. Everyone was enthusiastic about sharing and learning together, which helped me understand more about my art and myself as an artist. This course helped me to stop being scared to not make the "safe choice" in painting all the time. I feel it has been an essential step in preparing me for my current residency at Palazzo Monti.’ – Nohana Sayama, @nhn_sym , Turps Spring Intensive 2026 Nohana's upcoming exhibition: PERG, Ludwigsburg, Germany (solo) 15th October - 15th November @perg_634 ~~~ Applications for Turps Intensives are now open.
