10 days in STJ celebrating 10 years of marriage⁣

We’ve been coming to St. John for many years, but this trip felt different. We felt more connected to the island and the people from the moment we stepped off the ferry and sat down at the nearest waterfront bar. Islanders greeting us “Welcome Back, Friends!” with smiles and hugs, later even calling us “family”. Meeting local legends at a beach bar and listening to stories you once thought could only be lore. Feeling the island magic electrifying every atom in your body. It felt…ethereal. Almost not real. Transcendent. Soft and warm and fuzzy. A intangible yet palpable feeling that consumes your entire being. Truly, sublimely, exquisite. I guess you could say, it felt like… Love. ⁣
I’ve been holding onto this feeling, clasping it tightly to my chest, breathing in the serene calm, basking in the happiness, feeling the heartbeat of joy, letting my mind float and immerse itself in the dreamy memories, preserving the magic for as long as I can. And when I sense the feeling wane, I look through these photos and am immediately transported back to experiencing that happy, ethereal, love. Love for Andrew. Love for myself. Love for the life we have created. Love for the island. ⁣

Fun Fact: I’ve worn that short, white lace dress on our 1st, 5th, and now 10th wedding anniversary! ⁣

Emme & Everett are both so incredibly cool. And smart. And funnyyyyyyy (I’m talking tears streaming down my face). And kind. And talented. And athletic. Both train and compete in Ninja Warrior, and Em just qualified to compete at Worlds in a few weeks! ⁣⁣

Being able to do a 3 day Girls Weekend with her full of sushi, shopping, self-care pampering, ice cream, peak 2000s cinema, convertible rides, silly shenanigans, big belly laughs, and so much love, has my heart bursting with happiness 💗⁣⁣

What a beautifully chaotic few days that was. CBC, 420, & Earth Day all in a week. Whew. I still don’t think I’ve caught up on sleep! ⁣⁣
But, I think that my biggest takeaways are that 𝐈’𝐦 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐥, 𝐈’𝐦 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐝, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐢𝐧’𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐝. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Historically, conferences and large beer events have not been safe places for me, so this one, being hosted just blocks from the brewery, came with extra anxiety. But! I tried to be as present as possible and focus my time and energy only where it felt right, not where I thought it should be, and gosh…what a game changer!!!! ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Seeing some of the most talented brewers in the world walk around the Love City taproom drinking beers that I am incredibly passionate about, hearing feedback from folks that visited the brewery about how much they enjoyed their time, never making it through the whole expo because I saw and hugged so many wonderful people along the way, snort laughing until I cried, cheers-ing with delightful beers, listening, learning, discussing and connecting with likeminded folks (and idols!), celebrating World Beer Cup winners, and feeling so.much.love. Even having to get my beloved JuneBug towed and a veryyy costly repair, couldn’t dull the sparkle ✨ ⁣⁣

10 years ago when the Craft Brewers Conference was in Philly, I was a baby brewer, sidelined by the crush injury, and wondering if I’d ever be able to brew again. 1 year ago, I had surgery on my other arm, determined to make it back to the brew deck. If I could share a beer with those past versions of myself, I’d tell her, “𝗪𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐌𝐞 𝐁𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭”⁣⁣

20 snippets of magical moments that I’m still not sure were even real because seriously, how is real life?!? Water so brilliantly clear and vibrantly turquoise it takes your breath away. Sharing sunsets with My Love. Meteor showers and the Milky Way. Aquatic dances with turtles. Rare and powerful thunderstorms with lightening so close you can smell it. White coral sand softer than velvet. Rainbows. Iguanas. Smiles. Laughter. And more love than I ever knew was possible. ⁣⁣

I won’t call it a comeback…
…because I never left.

Howeverrrrrrrrrr… this is the FOURTH TIME* I’ve had to work my way back up to the brew deck following life altering injuries and surgeries in order to prove that I AM a great fucking brewer. Who am I proving it to??
Mostly myself.
But also…
To every single person who has tried to push me out of this industry over the last 10 years, WATCH ME BE GREAT🤘🏻❤️‍🔥🍺

30 Days Post Surgery, I had my Rihanna moment. Crown and all. 👑
7 days prior, I could barely move a pallet of empty kegs with a pallet jack. Yesterday, I mashed in. Grained out. Moved grain bins. Set up hoses. And turned what feels like 1,000 triclamps. I did all of it. ALL. OF. IT.
That’s some Bad Bitch Energy right there, if RiRi were to say so herself👑
Know why?? Because…
I AM A WARRIOR 💪🏻👑

*Thankfully, this has been the shortest downtime and the fastest recovery following surgery, with the most amount of support. The 6months leading up to having De Quervain’s tenosynovitis release surgery are a different story… but that’s in the past now!
