Some knowledge is meant to be shared.

When artists like @paimmarivaldo —one of the creators of the iconic samba reggae grooves through his work and legacy as music director of @blocoileaiye and rhythms performed by community groups around the world—share their experience directly, our entire musical ecosystem grows stronger.

That’s exactly what Ijó Ìdílé – Rooted & Rising is about: branching knowledge across the samba reggae network, creating connections that will continue long after Carnival.

We’re incredibly proud to partner with @dakadoumsamba and bring this unique opportunity to Cornwall on Friday 1 August, where Marivaldo will lead a drumming masterclass alongside @marianarpinho , who will be sharing the movement, dance and cultural context behind the rhythms.

A huge thank you to Robin and the entire Dakadoum family for welcoming us and for flying the flag for Brazilian culture in the beautiful coastal corner of Cornwall. 🇧🇷❤️

Got plans on Tuesday? Why not swing by @cornishbank to help us with a Christmas donation to @globalgiving reforesting the Atlantic rainforest of Brazil in collaboration with @sinaldovale? We will be eating, playing and dancing full Brazilian style from 5pm. Music starts at 8pm. It’s pay as you feel and all donations goes to the reforesting. 💃🕺🏼🥁🪘🛢 taken in Falmouth, Cornwall by @dakadoumsamba

Shout out to our incredible beautiful dancers who brings sunshine to every gig.

Why not join them for an Afro-Brazilian dance workshop with Mariana Pinho from Brazil. 😁

This is an exciting and rare opportunity to dance with the UK's leading Afro-Brazilian dance teacher Mariana Pinho, here in Cornwall.

About this event:

Saturday 17th September 10:00 - 13:30 in Studio B, AMATA, Penryn.

In this workshop, Mariana will teach styles from the high energy street dance moves of samba reggae to the powerful symbolic dances of the Orixas, archetypes rooted in human experience and connection with nature.

Sunday 18th September 12:00 - 14:00 at Marazion beach.

You will then have the opportunity to dance together the movements of Yemanja, Goddess of the Sea, with feet in the ocean at Marazion, with live drumming from Dakadoum.

Cost: £20 for 3 hour workshop.
Sunday performance at Marazion is included.

AL LEVELS WELCOME, NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

See link in bio for tickets.
