This weekend, the heartbeat of Ilê Aiyê arrives in the UK.

Join Marivaldo Paim – Musical Director of the legendary Afro-Brazilian bloco Ilê Aiyê – alongside Mariana Pinho, as they share the rhythms, movement and history behind Samba Reggae through three unmissable masterclasses, presented as part of the Dendê Nation – Rooted & Rising: Ijó Ìdílé project.

📍 Saturday 1 August – Cornwall (NEW VENUE)
In partnership with Dakadoum

Whether you’re a drummer, dancer or simply passionate about Afro-Brazilian culture, this is a rare opportunity to learn directly from one of the people who helped shape the rhythms that continue to inspire percussion groups around the world.

Some knowledge is meant to be shared.

When artists like @paimmarivaldo —one of the creators of the iconic samba reggae grooves through his work and legacy as music director of @blocoileaiye and rhythms performed by community groups around the world—share their experience directly, our entire musical ecosystem grows stronger.

That’s exactly what Ijó Ìdílé – Rooted & Rising is about: branching knowledge across the samba reggae network, creating connections that will continue long after Carnival.

We’re incredibly proud to partner with @dakadoumsamba and bring this unique opportunity to Cornwall on Friday 1 August, where Marivaldo will lead a drumming masterclass alongside @marianarpinho , who will be sharing the movement, dance and cultural context behind the rhythms.

A huge thank you to Robin and the entire Dakadoum family for welcoming us and for flying the flag for Brazilian culture in the beautiful coastal corner of Cornwall. 🇧🇷❤️

We made the short journey from Falmouth to @ecopark.cornwall , brought us the incredible sounds of @cocodospretosoficial, from Recife, Brazil here in Cornwall last night

Lovely ❤️to see people from the 💃🏽Latin dance community, salsa and Forró, and percussion enthusiasts @dakadoumsamba and people making the journey from penzance

But I have to admit, I was taken aback by how few faces had come over from Falmouth for such a rare opportunity.

If we want more exceptional cultural experiences in Cornwall, we have to support the people and places making them happen. 30 minutes in the car is a small effort compared with what it takes to bring artists like this to Cornwall.

If we don’t turn up, we risk losing opportunities like these.

Thank you to everyone who keeps creating and supporting live culture.

The Chintz Presents: Studio 69 – BRAZILICA
EARLYBIRD TICKETS LIVE NOW

A Carnival of Colour, Rhythm & Disco Magic

This New Year’s Eve, Chintz is taking you on an exotic excursion to the sizzling streets of Rio for a full-blown Brazilian carnival espetáculo!

In true Chintz style, the whole venue will be transformed into a magical, immersive world dripping with kaleidoscopic colour, lush radiant décor, and vibrant, pulsing energy.

As we draw closer to the midnight hour, the incredible 17-piece Dakadoum Brazilian Samba Band will bring authentic, explosive Rio rhythms to the courtyard for an unmissable crescendo into the new year — continuing with the hypnotic pulse of Bahia’s Olodum blocos, carrying the deep communal swing of Salvador’s surging drum parades.

Head inside as DJ EasyJet and Unkle Funk of @1001citrusnights take over for a special extended vinyl-only transmission of — dare I say it — deep cuts full of Afro-Brazilian heat, baile funk, frevo, and thundering rare-as-rocking-horse-s**t edits from all over the globe.

When you need a breather or another margarita, float upstairs and melt into the cosy lounge hosted by Love Is The Way. Slowing down the tempo, turning up the sultry, bringing those leftfield psychedelic & romantic sounds of bossa nova, MPB & Tropicália with a few juicy cosmic disco nuggets thrown in for good measure — tipping the hat to our much-loved 80s NY institution.

Dress for the streets of Rio Carnival or the luxury Nightclub Studio 69

As we come to the end of our 2025 festival … a look back to our two entirely different Saturday afternoons of street entertainment!

We had sunshine, torrential rain and wind but the one constant was the commitment and enthusiasm of our brilliant performers, volunteers and our lovely festival fans who supported admirably.

Still two festival days left and the sun is out! check the link in our bio for info/to book and check socials for any last minute updates.

Enjoy!
