It’s been a Year 9/10/2023.

A rough year of firsts.

I miss you.

We miss you.

Grief has a way of following you around.

We have all gone on with our lives without you, which alone has its own challenges with grief.

A smell, a favorite meal, a stranger that resembles you, a holiday, your birthday, conversations with your only son, a favorite hymn or gospel song will stop us in our tracks and a tsunami of tears rush down our faces before we realize what’s happening.

A few things I’ve grappled with over this last year…

Praying AND believing.

Asking God to help my unbelief.

Trusting that ALL things really do work together for our good.

Surrendering my doubts.

All the questions.

Surrendering having to know the outcome of a thing.

Understanding grief (I still don’t)

Realizing that God still answers prayers. He does🙏🏽

I miss you friend.

I wasn’t ready for you to go and then 3 months later my sweet sister in love. Both to cancer 😭

I miss you both so much.

The old folks used to say “We will understand it better by and by.”

Longing for the day I’ll see you both again. Whole and safe in the arms of Jesus 🙏🏽🤍🕊️

Coming home hits different these days. So surreal.

Woke up this morning to my brother listening to Carlton Pearson.

My cousin blinged out my sweet Sister in Love’s beautiful picture. She would absolutely love it!

I stopped by @mansfieldfuneralhome to pick up her remains yesterday. So grateful to Christie and her entire staff for the way they care for families before, during and after a loved one’s transition.

I’m still grateful.

God is still good🙏🏽🩶

It was such a beautiful day in Texas. Overcast and a sweet breeze. Today’s devotional gave me the push I needed to keep going and realize big or small I can count it all!

“SMALL STILL COUNTS”

DAY 16 of 31 “Walk with Me “ with @shawnaloveswellness

Today’s Scripture:

Galatians 6:9

Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up.

Devotion:

If you have started and stopped a hundred times, you are still welcome here. We are not doing
shame today. Maybe you walked yesterday and missed the three days before it. You are here
now. Consistency grows more easily when we stop demanding intensity. Ten minutes counts.
Five minutes counts. Walking to the end of the block and back counts. Starting again
counts. We are not building something impressive; we are building something faithful
and sustainable. Small steps can become strong rhythms when we keep returning
without condemnation.

Walking Prayer:

Father , free me from all-or-nothing thinking. Help me build faithful rhythms one small choice at
a time

Thank you for this Shawna! We’re halfway there 👊🏽💪🏽

“YOUR BODY IS NOT YOUR ENEMY”
Day 15 of 31 “Walk with Me” with @shawnaloveswellness

Today’s Scripture

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God?
You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your
spirit, which are God’s.

Devotion:

This walk is for the woman who has spent years criticizing, comparing, punishing, or
ignoring her body. Today we choose a different posture. Your body has carried you through
some things. It has gotten you out of bed, worked long days, survived hard seasons, and kept
breathing through heartbreak. We are not walking because we hate our bodies. We are
walking because we want to care for them. Wellness rooted in shame rarely feels like
freedom. Wellness rooted in gratitude can become stewardship.

Walking Prayer:

God, thank you for the body that carries me through this life. Teach me to care for it with wisdom,
gratitude, and patience

Thank you Shawna 🫶🏽

@firestone @bridgestone on Kirby in Houston, number your days.

I’m such a creature of habit so I always go to the same location, but today drained me.

I had a flat. Thank God I was right by Discount Tire so I pulled in and they put my spare on. Drive to Firestone, over 4 hours later and a few hundred dollars I got 2 new tires. I get home, cleaning out my car and open the back and the spare is in the back of my car. 🤬🤬🤬

Now mind you I had already gone back to Firestone after getting the new tires because I get down the street and it feels very high up. I check and the PSI was 42 on the new tires and one of the tires was at 32. They are supposed to be 35. So y’all just threw the tires on, and supposedly did a wheel alignment (not even sure if that was done) and you didn’t check the tire pressure?????

When I come back to have you put the spare back where it belongs you tell me oh we forgot to tell you there’s something hanging under there and we couldn’t get it back on. So the manager comes out goes under the car and then tries to explain to me what should have been done and apparently the guy that worked on my car didn’t know how to do it. So you don’t ask somebody, you just throw the spare in the back of the car and call it a day???

Y’all I’m hot🤬🤬🤬🤬

The manager apologizes profusely and had a conversation with the guy.

I still feel like they owe me more than an apology. My time is valuable. by @dalhart

There’s always something going on with my vehicle😭 These Houston streets are horrible 🤬

So I took it in and I dare not waste that time sitting and waiting for them to fix the problem. On my walk I go!

Left @thatdood.dylan in the home gym watching the news (last slide)🤣

Day 14 of 31 “Walk with Me” with @shawnaloveswellness

“YOU DO NOT LIVE THERE ANYMORE”

Today’s Scripture:

Philippians 3:13-14

Brothers, I don’t regard myself as yet having taken hold, but one thing I do. Forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Devotion:

Your body can be in today while your mind keeps traveling back to yesterday. The conversation, the betrayal, the mistake, the rejection, what you should have said, what they should have done. Moving forward does not require pretending the past never happened. It means refusing to make the past your permanent address. Keep the wisdom. Keep the lesson. Keep the discernment. But you do not have to keep reliving the wound to prove that it mattered.

Today, let each forward step remind you that your life still has direction.

Walking Prayer:

Father, help me honor what I learned without living inside what hurt me. Give me grace to move forward.

Thank you Shawna🫶🏽 Such a sweet reminder.

DAY 13 of 31 “Walk with Me” with @shawnaloveswellness

“COME BACK TO PEACE”

Today’s Scripture:

Isaiah 26:3

You will keep whoever’s mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you.

Devotion:

If your mind has been racing - replaying conversations, imagining outcomes, solving
tomorrow - do not shame yourself. Today we give the mind somewhere safe to return. Use
your footsteps as a gentle prayer rhythm: right foot,
You are God.
Left foot,
I trust You.

When your thoughts wander, come back. You are God. I trust You. Again. Again. Again. Peace
is not always the absence of difficult thoughts. Sometimes peace is the practiced return to the one who remains steady when everything else feels uncertain.

Walking Prayer:

God, steady my mind. Teach me to return to you when my thoughts begin to run ahead of me.

Thank you Shawna! Today’s walk was amazing🙏🏽🫶🏽

Late, but I got it done 🏃🏾‍♀️

“YOUR PEACE DESERVES STEWARDSHIP”

Day 12 of 31 “Walk with Me” with @shawnaloveswellness

Today’s Scripture:

Proverbs 4:23

Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life.

Devotion:

Maybe everybody can call, vent, ask, need, and receive from you while you are quietly running on empty. Boundaries are not always rejection; sometimes they are stewardship.
Your time matters. Your capacity matters. Your emotional energy matters. You do not need to
become hard to become healthy. Sometimes a boundary is a no. Sometimes it is not answering
immediately. Sometimes it is ending a conversation sooner. Sometimes it is simply admitting, I do not have capacity for that today.
You are allowed to tend to what God entrusted to
you too.

Walking Prayer:

God, give me wisdom to guard my heart without closing it. Teach me to manage my capacity with
love and courage.

Thank you Shawna. So timely🫶🏽

“RELEASE DOES NOT MEAN RETURN”

Day 11 of 31 “Walk with Me” with @shawnaloveswellness

Today’s Scripture:

Colossians 3:13

Bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do.

Devotion:

This is for the woman who wants a clean heart but knows some things cannot go back to the way they were. Forgiveness and access are not the same thing. You can release bitterness without reopening an unhealthy door. You can pray for someone and still need distance. You can refuse revenge and still honor the wisdom you gained. Healing does not require pretending the harm did not matter. On this walk, ask God to help you release what poisons your heart while preserving the discernment that protects your peace.

Walking Prayer:

“Father, heal my heart without removing the wisdom you taught me. Help me release resentment while walking in healthy discernment.”

Thank you Shawna!🙏🏽🫶🏽
