4 x @nagafighter World Champion! This has been a goal of mine for the last 4 years, I signed up to do this comp after only 6 months at white belt but ended up with a devastating injury 4 days before my flight which forced me out of it. Happy to tick this off the list now and do it bigger than I had originally planned. Winning NAGA worlds in No-Gi Adult Expert is a title formally held by @khabib_nurmagomedov @thefrankmir & @yakovlevmma Very happy with today. My first time winning quadruple gold. I also won in Adult Super-heavyweight, Masters Super-heavyweight and the Adult Purple Belt Absolutes! Straight by back to @enso_jj when I get back, the next goal for this year is @ibjjf 🙏🏾🔥

Shout out my coach @taylorade96 for inducting me into the lactation nation, 2 subs via mothers milk 🥛 only 4 points conceded after a silly mistake in my last match. Shout out my sponsors @soultakerfightwear keeping me fly and giving me the support to make my dreams a reality @roarcbdco.london with the CBD goodies helping with all the butterflies, anxiety, aches and pains also check out @lissahsupps for a huge sale they have at the moment! taken in Mennen Sports Arena by @damagetheboss

IBJJF No-Gi World Championship open class silver medalist and ultra heavyweight bronze medalist. Not the result I came for but I’m happy I hit the podium twice. I’ve spent most of the year focusing on Gi and after my bronze performance at the IBJJF No-Gi Euros, I genuinely believed I wasn’t ready for this step up. About 2 weeks ago I saw a post on IG (last slide) which inspired me to try, I scrolled past it and tried to dismiss it but the very next post was from the IBJJF saying capacity was at 95%. I took it as a sign and entered without telling anyone.

Happy I medalled twice but disappointed in myself as I came SO close to getting to the finals in my weight class and completely emptied the tank in the finals of the open class to a better opponent on the day.

A person very close to me reminded me that the journey is more important than the destination and I’m slowly learning to enjoy this aspect of it. I’ve learnt a lot about myself, proved myself at purple belt on the world stage and met some great people. I hope someone reading this can draw inspiration to pursue their goals no matter how far fetched they seem.

Huge thanks to my coaches at @enso_jj @taylorade96 went through a similar journey of setbacks on his way to finally winning the worlds and honestly it inspires me so much to keep trying. I’ll get gold one day I promise.

Huge love to @soultakerfightwear keeping me kitted out in the best IBJJF legal kit! @roarcbdco.london for the CBD oil which helped calm the nerves today @grapplers_soap keeping me clean and safe on the mats and also helping me avoid arguing with security about liquids 🤣

Huge thanks to my friends, family, support network and everybody who supported, coached, streamed and showed love! I really appreciate it taken in Las Vegas, Nevada by @damagetheboss

Long overdue comeback to competition after injury and focusing on other life goals. Feels good to brush off the cobwebs and get some points on the leaderboards again. Gold on my division and gold in the absolute, default gold in No-Gi due to not having an opponent. Managed to win all my matches today via submission without conceding a single point or adv. Big love to my other half too taking her first international medal, dominating the first match 11-1 and only losing in the finals due to ref decision after overtime. Super proud of her. Big love to everyone who supported me and checked in on me during my time injured and who helped my return. Big love to my bro @ryancrane_ with the custom @soultakerfightwear Gi my favourite Gi by far repping 🇯🇲 and have my son on my back ❤️🙏🏾 as always big love to my @enso_jj coaches and partners @taylorpearmanbjj @will.francis_ @johnwoodmanbjj @dave_dixon_training @ahlocksmiths and all teammates who push me with tough rounds! 🎥 Why is competing so important?

We caught up with one of our coaches @damagetheboss to hear why they choose to step onto the mats and what competition means to them. 🥋

Whether you’re competing for the first time or chasing gold, every match is an opportunity to learn, improve and test yourself. 💪

What’s your reason for competing? Let us know in the comments! 👇

A big thank you to @smartdojos and everyone that was involved. Last weekend I got to try out Brazilian ju-jitsu (BJJ) at a free taster session. Having several patients that participate in BJJ, it was great to get an up close and personal experience of some of the movements involved and gain an insight into why my patients come in so broken! A special thank you to @damagetheboss for the one to one coaching and not going too hard on me 🤣🤣.
The learning never stops!!
