What a way to end an extraordinary week at work!

Today, I had the honour of welcoming to the @irishwriterscentre the legendary @eoincolfer, best-selling author of #ArtemisFowl who was in conversation with fellow children’s author @trishforde1, both previously the Laureate na nÓg. This was such an open and insightful conversation on craft, creation, process, production, TV, film and animation from two gorgeous writers ⭐️⭐️

And last Thursday, as part of our Black History Month programme, we held an electric Takin’ the Mic showcase, masterfully MC’d by Dafe Orugbo and featuring rising stars @the_philosophers_poet Mo Dafalla, Naomi Ohenhen, Eloghosa Imafidon, @sandisiwe.khupe @joe_ogun @constant.kino Eppy Mutetwa, Bridget Kabouet and @cebsilemhlan
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you to everyone who let their voices echo through the building and to everyone who came to listen, to witness and cheer them on. 🙏🙏

Next week we’ll welcome more voices and legends including @roddydoyleofficial and @djamelwhitewriter on Wednesday night and we’ll step across the road to @poetryireland on Thursday night for another Black History Month showcase 🎉🎉

We are a remarkable island of so many talents and thankfully an island home to so many nations 🥳 taken in Irish Writers Centre by @damiboy

Thanks again to @nenaghtouristoffice for hosting us, to the wonderful festival team, to @odhran.ducie for the photographs of creativity and inspiration in action and the peeps of Nenagh for being The Most Friendly!
Hope to see you all again next year!

Unpacking the Nenagh treasure trove I’ve brought back.

Firstly, thank you to @dnlitfest for the gorgeous gifts of @johnhanly1893 scarf, @thesculleryire chutneys and relishes, and the @caisnatire sheep’s cheese 🥳😋

Other collectibles include new books from @3pillarspress @niamhmariatwomey & @elainewob_words more poetry from @rosemary.joyce.12 & @jbgoodtome, the debut novel from @authorcorquinn Murder on Lough Derg (rather suitable for the location) and postcards from @nenaghtouristoffice by Neil O’Dwyer and Liam Madden taken in Lusk, Dublin, Ireland by @damiboy

Huge congratulations to @niamhmariatwomey and @elainewob_words on rhe launch last night of their debut poetry pamphlets with @3pillarspress at the @dnlitfest in rhe @nenaghtouristoffice
The competition to find the winning poets was judged by @eleanorhooker who launched the pamphlets last night and had some brilliant questions for the two remarkable debut poets.
Congratulations to @germduffy @billy_fentonx91 and @frankfarrelly9 on this exciting new Irish press.
The books are stunning so buy them up, Christmas is on the way and poetry is the perfect gift and these poets are sensational ⭐️⭐️
