Nelly Neck Breaker, Double New England 8.5% Amager Bryghus Kastrup Denmark.

Here we go again with another beer from Danish Amager, known and honored for their can art and stories and of course.. their beer!
This time one of their double New England IPA s ended up in my glass called 'Nelly Neckbreaker'
Nelly Neckbreaker is a fictive character which comes alive in the story of the can and by the art of Simom Hartvig Daugaard
The story is about Janelle Jackson from Strawberry Mansion who turned in one of the greatest female wrestlers Nelly Neckbreaker
Which isn't fictive is the beer inside the can, a double New England IPA with a 8.5% abv brewed with on the malt bill : Pilsner, Golden Promise, Cara-Pils and oars. On the hop bill we find : Columbus, Nelson Sauvin, Sabro, Cascade and the Cryo version of Citra. The beer was fermented with the London Fog yeast strain.
In my glass I had an orange colored beer with a hazy look which poured a white 1 finger head.
In the aroma I smelled grapes, coconut, dandelion, citrus and a floral note.
The beer delivered a smooth mouthfeel and I tasted the following flavors : citrus, grapes, pine, orange peel and ending a bit on the sweet tip.
Maybe the last are the sweet victories of Nelly, who knows...
Okay beer.
Cheers

Zero Stress, Non-Alcoholic Pale Ale 0.5% Varvar Brew Kyiv Ukraine.

This is the 2nd version of 'Zero Stress' you see me reviewing, because not too long ago I reviewed the non-alcoholic stout version by Ukranian brewery Varvar.
This pale ale version has a 0.5% abv and was brewed with Mosaic and Citra hops and they have added some lactose to give the beer some body.
It was voted bronze 3 times on a row in Untappd (2024, 2025 and 2026)  so this non-alcoholic beer has a fan base.
It has a golden half clear look and pours a small white head, which was gone quite fast though.
In the aroma I smelled citrus. lime, orange, tangerine, green tea and a grassy note.
The mouthfeel was a bit sharp I must say, because my edition was high in carbonation.
When it comes to flavor I tasted the following : citrus, green tea, tangerine and ending with a small dry bitter.
Lucky enough the lactose didn't bring sweetness, which was for me a big plus.
Nice pale ale  when it comes to aroma and flavor, only a pity of that high carbonation.
Cheers!

River Season, New England India Pale Ale 6.5% Pollyś Brew Co. Mold Flintshire Wales.

It is always a great pleasure to have an IPA in my glass which is brewed by the Welsh of Polly's brew. Hops are in good hands with them and they brew the finest beer with it.
This single hop River Season for example! Once again a great IPA.
The single hop is in this case New Zealand Nectaron, currently one of the most searched for hops in the craft beer world.
It took the New Zealand hop breeding program 17 years to perfect this hop, but this time paid off.
When Pollyś received the hop for the first time in 2024 it had taken them ages and loads of emailing with their hop supplier to get it in their hands, and it was love at first sight.
With this River Season IPA they pay homage to their favorite hop with 19 gr of Necatron for each liter of beer.
Letś see how the magic worked out in my glass.
I was looking at an orange colored beer with a full hazy look, which poured a 1 finger white head.
In the aroma I smelled passionfruit, pineapple, blueberry and peach(all very aromatic!).
The beer has a creamy mouthfeel and I tasted flavors such as : citrus, lemondrop, dank, grapefruit and ending with a grapefruit zesty bitter in the finish.
Again a great IPA brewed by the Welsh of Polly's.
I am loving it!
Cheers!

Exotic Gateway - Mango Guave Passionfruit Sour, Fruited Sour 7% Two Chefs Brewing Amsterdam the Netherlands.

Two Chefs Brewing was founded by Sanne Slijper and Martijn Disseldorp, the two both were professional chefs before they started commercial brewing.
Like their professional jobs brewing also started in their kitchen, with a cool box and a large pan they had the goal to fill their own fridges with flavorful beer.
Because of their successful hobby brews they decided to change jobs in 2013 and fully focus on brewing beer, first as gypsy brewers but in 2017 they opened their own brewery.
Because the bank didn't allow them a loan,  they started a successful crowdfund in 2016 which helped them open their own brewery.
Their beer I am reviewing today was once again a supermarket catch after I had returned my empty bottles and cans to their deposit machine.
Sanne Slijper and Martijn Disseldorp is 7% abv fruited sour with (you might have guessed it) brewed with mango, guava and passionfruit.
The beer has a deep orange color, a light hazy look and pours a steady white 2 finger head.
In the aroma I smelled the already mentioned trio of mango, guava and passionfruit, along with a grainy note.
The beer has a crisp mouthfeel and I tasted the following flavors : manog, guava, passionfruit, a little sweet, a little grainy note and a fruity tart that increased to a refreshing sour note.
A beer that delivers as promised.
Nice one!
Cheers!

Pure Space Energy : Gamma-Ray Bursts, Double Black India Pale Ale / Double Cascadian Dark Ale 9% Moersleutel Craft Brewery Alkmaar the Netherlands.

Once again I had a beer from Alkmaar based Moersleutel Craft Brewery in my glass, which I will review for you today.
This time I enjoyed their 'Pure Space Energy : Gamma-Ray Bursts,'which is a 9% abv double BIPA / Cascadian Dark Ale
The beer was brewed with Chinook, Mosaic and Idaho7, and cry version where used along with Hyperboost to amplify the aroma.
In my glass I had a pitch black beer which poured a steady and compact 1 finger head.
In the aroma I smelled citrus, coffee, chocolate, a hint of orange, along with a nutty note.
The beer has a thick and  creamy mouthfeel and it revealed the following flavors : coffee, nutty, chocolate, citrus, pine, roast, liquorice and a coffeeish finish.
The dark malts play a big part and also the thick and creamy mouthfeel gives me the feeling: is this still a BIPA or... a hoppy stout?
Give it a try I would say and i am curious about your opinion.
But above all.. I enjoyed the beer
Cheers and hoppy Sunday!

Chokokoko, Porter 7% Amager Bryghus Kastrup Denmark.

Most good stories are guided by water when they are told, right? Naaah.. of course not.. it is BEER!!
At Amager they have been bring this together for many years,  All their beers have a good story on the can (in the pat on the bottle) and the stories are visually guided by amazing artwork.
For some stories you can have thoughts if it is all real, but you know how it goes, in a fisherman's story the fish also always gets a little bit bigger ;)
This time I tried Amagers chocolate / coconut porter, which they named 'Chokokoko', a beer with a 7% abv.
On the malt bill we find barley malt, pilsner malt, cara-Munich and roasted barley.
As adjuncts they used cacao nibs, toasted coconut, and natural coconut extract. For hops they used the classic combo Columbus and Centennial, and it was fermented with a UK Ale yeast strain.
In my glass it resulted in a pitch black beer, which poured a steady and compact dark beige 2.5 finge head.
In the aroma I smelled coconut, cacao and red fruits.
The beer has a smooth mouthfeel and I tasted flavors such as : roast, coconut, pine (which increased), cacao, espresso and bitter punch in the finish.
A  solid porter with a lot of coconut and a bitter kick.
Nice one.
Cheers!

Barrel Project 2026 Port, Russian Imperial Stout 12% Brouwerij Kees Middelburg the Netherlands.

Today I review another beer from one of the longest running series of barrel-aged beers in the Netherlands, the ‘Barrel Project’ series by Middelburg based brewery Kees.
Founder and head brewer Kees Bubberman started his brewing adventures in 1996 as a homebrewer on a small scale in his father’s kitchen.
His talents as a homebrewer made him earn a job as professional head brewer at the Emelisse brewery in 2007.
At Emelisse he already started to experiment successfully with barrel-aged beer, and he continued doing that when he founded his own brewery his own brewery in 2015, this was also the starting point of his ‘Barrel Project’ series. Over those 11 years many released followed in this series from which this Barrel Project 2026 Port RIS is one of the latest ones.
The beer with its 12% abv has aged for a decent time in port barrels, is pitch black and pours a dark brown 1 finger head.
In the aroma I smelled port, cherries, chocolate, wood, and cinnamon.
The beer delivers a sticky mouthfeel and I tasted the following flavors : port, iodine, cherries, oak wood, chocolate, wry, coffee and ending boozy in its finish.
Another great release within this series.
I am loving it!
Cheers!

Haake-Beck Pils, German Pilsner 4.9% Brauerei Beck Neustadt Germany

The Haake brewery was founded in 1826 by C.H Haake, he was a brewer that was pioneering with bottom fermented beers and in 1832 his brewery was the first in Bermen to produce bottom fermented beer. His beer got really popular in the city and by the year of 1845 Haake was the biggest brewery in the city.
In 1919 the brewery merged with Kaiserbrauerei Beck & Co. and they officially changed the name into Haake - Beck. Where Beck was searching for international success with their exports Haake focused on the domestic market.
Making a big step to more modern times, the brewery was acquired by ABInbev in 2002.
I guess that with this Haake-Beck Pils they keep a bit of their history alive.
The beer is a decent  pilsner with a 4.9% abv, it has a golden clear look and pours a white 1 finger head.
In the aroma I smelled citrus, sulfur, along with malty and grainy notes.
The bee has a smooth mouthfeel and I tasted flavors such as citrus, mandarin, a grainy note and i bitter that starts small and elegant and than increases sip after sip
A decent pilsner and good thirst quencher.
Cheers!

Helena Nelson Sauvin IPL, India Pale Lager 6% Walhalla Brouwerij Amsterdam the Netherlands / Shop : Walhallacraftbeer.nl

Once again a beer from the Walhalla package which I received straight from the brewery (big thank you to Aart and team!)
This time I review another beer from their 10th anniversary series, and it is an India Pale Lager called Helena.
As you know this Amsterdam based brewery names all their beer after gods and demons from mythology..
Helena is goddess from Greek mythology, known as the daughter of Zeus and Leda, Zeus seduced Leda in the form of a Swan and from the eggs Helena and Pollux were born.
Helena was known to be the most beautiful woman in Greece. The myth goes that Aphrodite promised Helena to Paris the prince of Trojan, a spell from Aphrodite made Helena choose Paris above her husband Meneläus and she left him for Paris. Meneläus  brother Agamemnon convinced him that he should take revenge and this was the start of the Trojan war
Back to the beer Helena is 6% abv IPL brewed with Nelson Sauvin hop.
The beer has a golden unfiltered look and pours a white 1 finger head.
In the aroma I smelled grapes, citrus, clove and a grassy note.
The beer has a crisp mouthfeel and I tasted flavors such as citrus, grapes, pine, a grassy note and ending with a dry long lasting lemon zesty bitter in the finish.
Wooow... this is a super crispy , hoppy and tasty IPL,
I am loving it!
Big love to Aart and his team for beers like this!
This beer is as hot as Helena!
Cheers!

Barrel Aged Series No. 41 (Tripel Pineau Des Charentes), Belgian Trpel 13% Bronckhorster Brewing Company Rha the Netherlands.

As you already could read in a previous review, Monik and I recently had visited the Bronckhorster brewery on sunny Sunday afternoon, and went home afterwards with a mixed box of 12 of their barrel-aged beers from which this 'Barrel Aged Series No. 41 (Tripel Pineau Des Charentes)' is the 2nd beer I review.
Pineau Des Charentes is a French liquor that is made by mixing grape must with Cognac eau-de-vie.
Stories say that the origin of this liquor goes back to 1859 when a French winemaker in the Charente region accidentally added grape must into a barrel of Cognac, from which he thought it was empty. Year later when he opened the cask he discovered what he had created. For a long while this liquor remained a local secret which was drunk at special celebrations such as weddings or other festivities. From 1921 it was produced commercially by a wine maker named Emile Daud.
BBC aged their tripel in a Pineau Des Charentes barrel for a year and it ended up being a 13% abv beer. As adjuncts Steve used cinnamon, coriander and blood orange.
With the knowledge that Steve is a very good brewer and barrel blender I was more than curious for this beer.
The beer is amber colored, has a hazy look and pours a steady beige 1 finger head.
In the aroma I smelled cinnamon, wood, cognac, grapes, cookes and oranges.
The beer has a creamy mouthfeel and I tasted the following flavors : orange, citrus, oak wood, cognac, rye bread, cinnamon, wry, grapes and ending with a dry boozy finish.
What a tasty ride!
I am loving it!
Cheers!

Prodigy, Non-Alcoholic India Pale Ale 0.5% Demory Paris, Paris France.

The original Demory Brewery was founded in Paris in 1827. During the Belle Époque and the Roaring Twenties, the beer brand was the city's household name for beer and was enjoyed by icons like  Simone de Beauvoir and Jean-Paul Sartre and yes.. this in a country that has always been nominated by wine.
The brewery faced big economic pressure though during the 1930's and faced even bigger issues during the 2nd world war when barley was hardly available. The issues ended up in the brewery being briefly sold to Brasserie de la Comète and the name disappeared in total during  the 1950's when big macro companies took over the market.
Munich native Kai Lorch reintroduced craft beer in Paris in 2009 and brought the Demory brand back alive.
The reanimated brand became a local success and increasing sales established a move to a new and bigger location on the banks of the Ourcq canal in Bobigny.
Since I like to test non-alcoholic beer during some of my weekdays I tried their Prodige, a 0.5% abv non alcoholic IPA .
The beer from which the hops are not announced has a deep orange hazy look and pours a white 1 finger head.
In the aroma I smelled citrus, green tea, berries, sweet grapes and a grassy note.
The beer has a smooth mouthfeel and I tasted flavors such as citrus, red fruits, green tea, a tiny bitter and malty sweetness.
An okayish non-alcoholic IPA.
Cheers!

Chuck Maoris, New Zealand India Pale Ale 6.5% Clandestine Beer Popești-Leordeni România,

I guess we all know the Romanian brewery Clandestin, their labels always peak out with funny labels and beer names, they must have a good sense of humor in Popesti-Leonardi.
This time I tried their New Zealand IPA 'Chuck Maoris' and as we can see on the label they played around with Chuck Norris both on the label and with the name.
On the more serious tip we are looking at a NZ IPS with a 6.5% abv which was brewed with Motueka, Nelson Sauvin, Riwaka and Nectaron hops.
My tasting notes show the following :
In my glass I had a yellow colored beer which had a hazy look and it poured a steady white 1 finger head.
The aroma revealed : citrus, blackberries, peach, passionfruit and sweet grapes.
The beer has a creamy mouthfeel and I tasted flavors such as : citrus, blackberries, biscuit, lime, grapes and ending with a small lemon zesty bitter in the finish.
Both the aroma and the flavor increased after the beer had breath for a while in my glass.
Nice beer!
Cheers!
