One of our favorite things about what we’re building at DAMO BBQ has very little to do with food. It’s the people. We’ve watched customers come to our truck as strangers and, over time, become friends who feel more like family. People stop by to grab some BBQ, catch up on life, talk about their kids, debate the next big game, or just enjoy a good conversation while they wait for their food. Because we’re not fast food, and honestly, we don’t want to be. ❤️ There’s something special about slowing down, talking to the people around you, getting to know your neighbors, and supporting the small businesses that make our community what it is. In a world that moves so fast, sometimes the best thing we can do is put our phones down, share a conversation, and remember what brings us together. One of our favorite examples is the collection of BBQ stickers on our refrigerator and the business stickers displayed inside our food truck. What started with a customer bringing us a sticker has grown into friendships, family connections, and businesses supporting one another. That’s what community looks like to us. And we’re just getting started! 📣 We want YOUR stickers and business cards! Bring us a sticker to add to our refrigerator or the wall inside the truck. Have a small business? Bring us your business cards, too! We’re creating a space inside our building where people can leave a card, discover a local business, and help one another grow. We believe in showing up for each other, sharing what we do, and celebrating the people who make our community special. If we can help spread the word about your business, we want to! As we welcome friends, family, and our DAMO family to watch tomorrow’s parade, we’re reminded how grateful we are for every person who has been part of this journey. Come for the BBQ. Saturday night will be a different/smaller menu than our regular service but YES… WE WILL BE SERVING BBQ!🔥 So if you’ve been wanting to try DAMO but haven’t been able to make it during our normal daytime hours, Saturday night is your chance! ❤️ HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE GUY BEHIND DAMO BBQ.❤️ Today we celebrate Danny. My hubby. My best friend. My business partner. The pitmaster. And the guy who somehow convinced me that building a BBQ business together was a good idea. 😂 If you know DAMO, you know the food. But what you may not always see is the person behind it. The early mornings. The long prep days. The hours tending the pits. The experimenting, tweaking and trying to make everything just a little bit better. The setbacks. The challenges. The endless work that happens long before the truck window opens. Danny pours a whole lot of himself into DAMO BBQ. And we’ve been through a LOT to get where we are today. We’ve built this business together, changed locations, started over, dealt with more obstacles than I care to remember 😂, and somehow we’re still standing here—smoking meat, building a new home for DAMO in Marengo, and dreaming about what’s next. I’m incredibly proud of this guy. Not just because he’s a damn good pitmaster (IMO)… but because I know how hard he works, how much he cares, and how much of his heart goes into everything he does. And I wouldn’t want to be on this crazy ride with anyone else. So today, before we get back to BBQ, Settlers Days, the building, the truck, the cow who STILL doesn’t have a name 😂 and everything else happening around here… I want to wish my hubby a very Happy Birthday.❤️ If you see Danny around DAMO this weekend, make sure you give the birthday boy some love. 🎂 Happy Birthday, Danny.
