I was able to enjoy my day off from work to check out the @spectrum_chicago Chicago Art Fair at Merchandise Mart. It is been a long time since I was at the Mart. Saw a lot of colorful artwork from abstract to mixed media. There are artists around the globe who are participating in this fair from Mexico to South Africa. One of the vendors who is showing her art is a customer of mine at my job. She was so excited to see me. I needed to little pick me up to keep going on my art work because I have been lagging. Happy Friday and go Sox!!! taken in theMART Merchandise Mart by @damonlamarreed

Who cares for the wall once the mural is finished?
Join us today for “Who Cares for the Wall?”, a conversation on public art stewardship presented at Spectrum EXPO by Chicago Public Art Group.

Moderator Janice Bond sits down with Bernard Williams, Dorian Sylvain, and Damon Lamar Reed to talk about caring for public art, conservation, community memory, and what happens after a mural is completed.

Friday, Oct 9 · 2:00–2:45 PM
Spectrum EXPO · Merchandise Mart, 7th Floor

This summer, HCCares students picked up brushes and got stretched in new ways. Working alongside Chicago artist Damon Lamar Reed, they learned to plan big, take creative risks, and see their ideas grow and come to reality.

Volunteers from HCC and @princeofpeacesaratoga worked right beside them, and together they created something that reflects the neighborhood they call home.

Tuesday, come celebrate as the mural they made is revealed in our Peace Garden! by @damonlamarreed
