Two weekends ago we were at @overloadnz representing @auckland_iaido_club, which makes complete sense when you consider how many people check out Kendo and/or Iaido after watching/reading Ruruni Kenshin. I couldn't participate in the Embu on Sunday, but had a great time on Saturday. Since we went in Kimono and Hakama and @luyi_cao was also dressed up (and happy with the outcome), we took some photos with the awesome @lindalq18

Another DIY job for our Atelier to try and save money, and get exactly what we want. Except this cost more and took longer than expected and may or may not have been necessary:

A mirror with stand for downstairs that will come apart and fit in my car.

Through all of life's challenges and dark moments, your shine lights my day.

Happy 3 year wedding anniversary to us, especially my darling @luyi_cao who have some how survived 3 years being married to me while still being somewhat sane.

Tried the 1Shot ISO400 film with My Fujica. I really need to find new things to photograph in Auckland because this took a while. 1 Shot is cheap compared to Fujifilm/Kodak, but is very grainy as you can see, so choose your subjects wisely. Developed by @splendid.nz turning out great as usual, #filmphoto#tflscans by @dan.illusion

Happy birthday to the most important and wonderful person in my life. My wife, my partner in literally everything from dance, food, photography, excursions and even work, the one that makes our house a home (the kitties will back me on this), my darling that I am lucky to wake up every morning and explore life and the world with. My gorgeous @luyi_cao .

We've known each other for almost twelve years now, and been together for 8. Married for almost 3. Life hasn't always been a fun adventure, especially last 2 have been tough with injuries and health troubles, tough financial situation, losing our jobs, general disillusionment and starting our business, our parents getting older... Life has been challenging. But I can't think of anyone I'd rather go through that life with come rain or shine. Love you so much!

Being a small family business owner means sometimes we have to build our own 'office' furniture. Built this cutting and work table for @atelierluyi a few weeks ago but didn't get a chance to post. The legs are Rimu balusters from an old staircase. The rest is new wood, FSC NZ pine and drawers made out of bamboo storage boxes from Kmart.

Not a novel design by any means, IKEA inspired but adapted to fit our needs. I am really starting to enjoy this stuff I must say by @dan.illusion

You can generally tell an authentic happy face from a fake one, and these ain't fake. I didn't take many photos at @zoukcentralnz this year, but like everyone in these pics, I had the best time. @phoebedenton @rebekah.codlin and @darthshana and others put in a lot of work to set up another great event and it was a pleasure to join the team again as a volunteer to help make it a success.

There was a lot of highlights: all the workshops I did, but especially the masterclasses, were achievable but challenging. After doing this for 15 years that is exactly what I want. The music was on point at the parties. The Choreo challenge on Sunday was super fun. I made some cool new friends and had an amazing dance with Isa which was just the icing on the cake. Of course I crashed a bit earlier than I'd have hoped to (#olduncle) and missed the Sunday party, picked up a cold (#zoukgerms), and unfortunately also had possibly the worst dance I've ever had (story for another day). But the awesomeness was so awesome that those little things are like a leaf in the ocean. taken in Viva Dance by @dan.illusion

One thing I love about dance is the chance to know and make friends from around the world... including this beautiful wild child that we got to share, time, food and beautiful dances with over the weekend taken in Judges Bay / Taurarua, Parnell, Auckland, New Zealand by @dan.illusion
