The annual family walk around a field and pick pumpkins 🎃.

This year we opted for a traditional field to pick our own from rather than paying for overpriced tickets before we even had a pumpkin in the barrow.

The verdict… we all loved it. Quieter, local and easy. We came away with various sizes and colours ready to carve. The kids also had a hot chocolate before we had a little walk around the wild flower meadow.

Back in the saddle for Rd 1 of the Army Cycling Cyclocross Race Series.

Another great day for cross and a course that had a little bit of everything.

A solid start to the series taking 🥇 overall but as I am a team rider I passed the win to one of the other competitors so it made for a great training ride.

Wessex CX League Rd 5 - Basingstoke 🚴

Back between the tapes for another race and although I said I wanted to improve on last week I had a shocking start once again.

I then spent my matches catching on this technical punchy course managing to avoid the other riders who inspected the ground.

Another great race putting out good numbers.

Wessex CX League Rd 4 - Chilton Manor Farm

Another race under a blue sky with nothing but some shine coming down on us.

A technical course with lots of twists and turns, flowing descents and a couple of thigh burning hills.

I still need to work on my starts but the remainder of the race I was pretty pleased with. With two occasions getting off the bike one of which was saved quickly the other needing a roll my remounting was also tested.

As always a great day out from the @wessexcx and @vcventa team.

The look of a man whose legs and lungs are on fire and we have only been racing for 3 minutes.

Wessex CX League Rd 3 - Reading

The second race of the week and legs were feeling good for a few laps around Prospect Park.

A fast start which was soon slowed by a rider going down and taking a number of others with them. The course was in two parts, fast and flowing on one hand then technical on the other. Tree routes meant line selection was key and a couple of off camber fast corners tested the nerve.

Really pleased with how this one went. I pushed hard from the start and learnt from previous mistakes riding slightly more aggressive and making progress. Now to download today and look forward to Rd 4 next weekend.

Army Gravel Championships 2026 - 🥈

The sun was shining, champagne gravel and a like minded people what wasn’t to love.

A fast paced course with only armour to avoid rather than cars. Found myself in a great group rolling turns keeping the pace high.

Fully committed into the line but @dawson24820965 had the stronger sprint and pipped me in the closing meters.

7th overall and 2nd in the senior category. Very pleased with the result.
