Much needed vacation with my wife to Washington DC, the Battle of Yorktown, Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown and Busch Gardens!

The closest thing to do what I do in Colonial Williamsburg was the newspaper printer!

George Washington probably read an edition like this one!

This intense printing press machine is now a software program! While buggy it's not as labor intensive certainly.

Pretending to shoot a cannon in Williamsburg!

At Busch Gardens on the merry go round!

Historic Jamestown was interesting. They were honest about both tbe potential they launched and the issues.

1619 was when they first launched the House of Burgesses to begin American democracy and slavery.

A lot of people died in Jamestown because they built a fort near a swamp with bad bugs and dirty water. by @dan_ulloa1111

So last week in my hometown of#EastBrunswick at the @hiltonhotels was the c@nn@bis business convention called @theexchangeevent. The company I run as @heady_nj Editor and Publisher was happy to be a collaborator and featured on the great brand wall with so many other fun companies!

It was fun meeting new people including some who greatly admired my work, and seeing old friends and industry colleagues and catching up.

It was fun to note as a landmark in my life.

Part of that is because I did have a lot of difficult learning experiences in my career and life before I was blessed to be noted the 25th most influential person in NJ c@nn@bis by Insider NJ last year and similarly noted through the community and industry.

A lot of experiemces were also before working for @hudsoncountyview for 6 years and being well aquainted with most of the leading Hudson Democratic officials.

So @corygarriga and I were sitting for lunch at the convention near where I sat during the EB high school prom in June 2005 with my then girlfriend and friends.

This song played during prom.

High School was a while ago now obviously. I've lost touch with a lot of people and some of my old friends like Tom Pacheco and Mike Jinks and others have sadly died. Other people have kids I see on social media which is nice. by @dan_ulloa1111

My maternal grandma Nanny Flo Kasoff passed this week at the age of 101.

It's the circle of life.

Nanny was doing all right at 90 in Jan 2014 but still lucid enough in Jan 2023 to not want to be called Mrs. Kasoff by my polite wife and for that I am happy.

However it had been her time for some time.

Nanny lived a full and long life. She told me she played hookey from school to go see Frank Sinatra when she was young while growing up in Newark.

Nanny trained to be a nurse during World Ward II. She would have gone to Japan had the bomb not worked.

Nanny was later the school nurse in Colonia in Woodbridge and had two children, 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren on my uncle's side.

She took me to see the play The Emperor Has No Clothes when I was 7 and used to always get the newspaper and read books.

I was thinking those things shaped me greatly.

Funeral plans are tentatively next Friday. Nanny is going to be cremated before she is buried with my grandpa Herb Kasoff.

It has been a tumultuous time so this is quite the thing. by @dan_ulloa1111
