Happy heavenly birthday today mum.

I know you're up there celebrating with Nana Chick and Nana Walker. Having a hug with brother Tahu and cuzzy Haweturi. Having a drink with all of our uncles and aunties and whānau who have passed on.
I'm so proud to be your son. You are still my fire.
I love you heaps @gailhikuroa ❤️ by @dan_walker_official

That’s a wrap on AI Brunch V3.0 🥂✨

What an awesome morning of kōrero. So good to have some familiar faces back in the whare and welcome some new whānau into the mix too.

A huge mihi to @autuni & Auckland Startup Week for supporting us and helping bring this kaupapa together 🌱

An extra special mihi to @dan_walker_official for leading today’s kōrero and to our speakers Isaac at @weareriver.nz @mihikeitatibble at @tiahomaiconsultancy and @halavahaakolo at @fourshellskava for sharing your pūrakau, whakaaro & mātauranga with us all. Appreciate all your mahi whānau 💚

Three brunches in and three reminders of why we do what we do. Creating spaces for Māori and Pacific founders, creatives and innovators to connect, share, learn and grow together ✨

The cost of removing graffiti in Auckland: $4.5 million a year.

The cost of learning to respect one of our official languages: $0.

The cost of choosing ignorance over understanding: Priceless but not in a good way.

You don’t have to speak te reo Māori to respect it. You don’t even have to understand it.

Te reo Māori isn’t a threat to anyone’s identity. It’s part of our Kiwi identity

He taonga te reo Māori. Kia kaha tātou ki te tiaki. taken in Orewa, New Zealand by @dan_walker_official

Ahakoa he iti, he pounamu.

A small step, but a significant one, on my haerenga with Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi.

For a long time, a PhD felt like a step that was simply too big for me. But over the past 10 years, I have slowly consolidated my thinking, research and experiences into a kaupapa that others have seen value in too.

Today, my doctoral research proposal was formally approved by the Doctoral Research Committee, marking the next stage of my PhD journey.

My research, Te Kuru o te Ihu, explores Kaupapa Māori artificial intelligence entrepreneurship and how we might design culturally grounded AI through Kaupapa Whānau methodology.

There is still a long way to go, but today feels like an important milestone to celebrate

Ngā mihi nui to everyone who has supported, challenged and encouraged me along this haerenga. by @dan_walker_official

Missing mum today ❤️
I would call her every week for a kōrero. Sometimes only 5 minutes - sometimes 40 minutes. It's been three weeks now and I wish I could call her one more time. Just once - I would be so happy. by @dan_walker_official
