also; that first photo was taken by my sister @teacherraquel1. i think i was like 34! we were in Maui—the first time for both of us. two girls from East Oakland snorkeling with the green sea turtles. i always remember my family @mizzreneej and @dada2nj happened to be there on their honeymoon and we all met up 🎉🎉✨✨💕 we were kids! by @danamo

brain, body, and soul: WORKED today
.

i had not been to the gym in EIGHT days. i have jumped on aleve. i wrote into late last night. today i worked with new editor today refining sentences (my favorite thing). plus cooked — i was craving roasted carrot for some reason over a garlicky yogurt situation and when i say it all worked out! i’m exhausted but i kept promises to myself and others ☮️☮️☮️

a thing about being back in NY for a week
.
.

is it reinforces how different my life is now. on so many levels. i was blessed to be able to — aside from all the excitement of my new role, and #theatlanticfestival — see friends + colleagues old and new, see #chakakhan introduce her new album @amannewyork, dip into @mcnallyjackson, get 2 miles in @centralparknyc, fall into @raoulsrestaurantnyc in the late night, speak with amazing writing students @nyugallatin and also just walk Soho, looking in windows, reclaiming spaces, and remembering when. by @danamo
