The weekend I had honestly been dreading ended up being filled with love and energizing energy. I went from teaching disco steps at Dance Marina Del Rey to my mother Tommie’s Celebration of Life (clearly, the final pic is the disco night!).

It was so hard saying farewell to my beautiful Mother, but I loved how my brothers and I each honored my Mom in our own ways… and Thank you to Debra for her lovely words about Mom’s authentic design talent.

I have been in the pressure cooker so many times, and a lot lately, but having all of my family there gave me the support for me to get through it. Thank you to the Russell and Vaca relatives who drove hours, my dear Sac friends D Chi big bro John Lozano, @mochilly, Kat, Sandy, Rosey, and Karen, all of my brothers friends, the supportive gang from the Sacramento Discovery Shop, and my amazing So Cal pals Stephanie, Dan and Millie, and Marina (who was there from Boston) for being by my side and witnessing such a beautiful event. All of you meant something special to Tommie, and she would have been so happy you were there!

Final photo, thanks to @ginaf0101 and DJ 1 in a Million, my partners in disco. taken in Fair Oaks, California by @dancevac

🪩✨ All aboard the funkiest Soul Train in Los Angeles!

Disco Night at The Music Center’s Dance DTLA broke out in an incredible Soul Train that took over The Jerry Moss Plaza. We are sharing 60 straight seconds. No edits. No interruptions. Just pure disco joy and a dance floor full of unforgettable moments. 🕺💃

Thank you to everyone who joined us. The plaza was sparkling with funky moves, dazzling style and nonstop dancing from the first beat to the last.

A huge thank you to instructor @dancevac for infecting everyone with disco fever, @whackinglosangeles for serving an electrifying Whacking mini lesson, and DJ @dirty_dave for spinning wall-to-wall classics that kept the mirror ball turning all night long.

We’ll see you on the dance floor this Friday for Cumbia Night!
