Once upon a time,
I thought you had to earn a love like this...
by being perfect, doing more, proving your worth.

But what a luxury it is to simply be...
to love yourself fully and have someone love you for who you are.

I have found that love isn’t something you chase...
it’s something you allow.

Love is about loving yourself
so you can receive the love around you more.

This kind of love blooms through seasons of healing, forgiveness, laughter, trust, and audacious faith.

Through choosing ourselves...
And choosing each other...

Happy Birthday, Dan! ❤️

As your 37th trip around the sun begins...

I want to celebrate this past year.

36 is the year you…
✨ said goodbye to your dad,
✨ reconnected with snowboarding,
✨ road tripped to Florida,
✨ re-planted the garden,
✨ became a river guide,
✨ rode the motorcycle,
✨ provided service through our camper rentals,
✨️ so much more....

I’ve watched you grow, grieve, play, work, receive, face fears, and challenge yourself.

Looking back, I’m in awe of all that 36 held for you.

And now, it is my wish that 37 will be another incredible year for you, for us!

A year overflowing with joy, community, love, adventure, play, fun, rest, and growth.

I’m so grateful to walk beside you in all of it...
past, present, and future.

I ended up on the kitchen floor again…

But this time, it wasn’t a breakthrough that took me down...
it was laughter.

It was fetal position, can’t-breathe, tear-streaming down your face laughter.

All because of a sandwich.

I had made lunch for me and Dan with gluten-free bread we love, Italian cheese, steak…all high-quality ingredients.

We didn’t eat together today.
Dan was on a call, so I ate mine solo.
I thought, “Well… not my best… but it works.”
I shared a few pieces with Sadie too...she loved it. 🐕

When we came back together,
I asked, “So, how was your sandwich?”

That’s when Dan had a choice…
Tell the truth or lie.

He chose truth.

“It was one of the worst sandwiches I’ve ever had,” he said. “But I liked the ingredients separately.”

We lost it with laughter.

Dan was squeaking out jokes while he was crying from laughter...
and I ended up on the kitchen floor from laughter.

And here’s the thing…
I didn’t take the jokes or the truth personally.
I didn’t make it mean anything about me.

Because of the personal development work I’ve done…
I could find the humor. I could see the truth.
I could stay in the moment and let it be light.

I know I’m an incredible cook.
...A WI State Fair award-winning baker, in fact.
I am just not a sandwich winner today.

I find gratitude for it all!

Because I know that when you hit your kitchen floor...
your world shifts as you rise.

So yeah…
Same floor.
