Birds.

Such a good feeling when you are starting to get to grips with the new camera. There is something so satisfying about smooth buttery slow motion footage and even better when the subjects are ducks!

Still getting a bit bogged down when I’m having to run and gun and alter settings on the move, making sure I’m exposing correctly in changing lightening conditions like a race or even just moving around the house. But I’m getting there, and working with Proxies has definitely changed my life! No slow choppy editing anymore.

POV: Filming the elite field of the Copenhagen Half Marathon.

What a week in Copenhagen it was! It was a pleasure not only documenting @philybowden race prep and race day experience but getting a behind the scenes window in to the elite field of a half marathon.

Thank you too @cphhalf & @spartaatletik for the opportunity!

Full YouTube video out now on @philybowden channel and my BTS vlog is coming early next week!

One balcony can tell 100 stories… 🤮

And those 100 stories always look so much better at 100fps! The new camera is a beast!

Few learnings:
- slog 3 is tricky to expose properly when you are running and gunning vlog style but if you have the time to expose properly it is so beautiful!

- a big shock moving from Canon to Sony, my advice is don’t put any pressure on making usable content for a few weeks and just fail a bunch until your confident + find friends like @james.creates who will help you with any questions you might have!

- I completely underestimated how big 60/120fps 4k footage is, having worked with 1080 for over a year now

- my laptop can’t take those files

- proxies are sent from god 😂 taken in Copenhagen,Demark by @dangerlimeedits

Just some test footage out of the FX30!

Loving it so far the 4k down sampled from 6k is just so beautiful! And messing around with slog3 has been a fun learning curve 😄

Very scared of the massive files sizes though, will need to think of getting a NAS set up to deal with all theses crazy big files! taken in Manchester, United Kingdom by @dangerlimeedits

The Day Has Arrived!

It’s new camera day, and oddly I felt a bit of imposter syndrome opening this this morning. My head was telling me that I’m not good enough to warrant this upgrade in kit. I know this is a bunch of rubbish and it’s so fun to see how far I’ve come, and this is just going push me to get even better!

I’m so excited to get my teeth stuck into this bit of kit, I’m sure there will be some growing pains and a fair few mistakes but that comes with the business 📚watch out for some pretty footage on mine and @philybowden YT channels 👌🏽

Camera body: Sony fx30
Lense 1: Sony 10-20m f4 (Phily’s vlogging)
Lense 2: Tamron 17-70 f2.8 (My everything lense)

There are some more upgrades coming soon 📺 by @dangerlimeedits

Late train arriving to the Wes Anderson trend 🚂

It absolutely had to be done with scenes like this, Sankt Moritz was made for a Wes film 🎞🌞🏔

All credit for the edit goes to @dangerlimeedits 🎥👏🏼

Make it POP!

Painting our house bright colours comes in handy when you need to make less dynamic footage pop! There is a tendency to make footage very moody and cinematic but sometimes you just gotta make it look like candy!

COLOUR GRADING!

I’ve been having a lot of fun recently learning about colour grading - here’s a little grade I did for a shoot I did with @philybowden for an upcoming YT video.

Currently my set up only allows the use of Cinestlyle so grading is a little limited but I’ve been playing around with stock S/C Log footage which has made me so excited for when I can invest in a camera with Log profiles!!!

“Flow state” ; a term used to describe the mental state in which a person is completely focused on a single task or activity. They are directing all of their attention toward the task, and they do not experience many thoughts about themselves or their performance. Some people refer to this as being “in the zone.”

It’s something I’ve been able to tune into more and more as I’e got older, become a student of the sport and really appreciated what my body is doing for me every day. For me, it’s like a different level of consciousness where my mind and body are as together as it gets, momentum builds with ease and you just, flow.

Finding this state for a midweek 10-miler, a soggy Sunday long run or that double run you have to drag yourself out the door for - that’s when you get to really appreciate what you’re doing, it becomes effortless and almost meditative.

I’m intrigued, have any of you entered your flow state recently? It doesn’t have to be in running, I’m sure @dangerlimeedits was in the zone for this beautiful edit as well!
