Confidence is a muscle 💪🏻 not a light switch 💡

Its not something we turn on and off based on circumstance (but thats how its normally marketed to us).

Confidence is a knowing thats built through moments of pressure and an experience of trust.

To each of us when we bump up against circumstances we have a unique set of privilege, experience, trauma (if applicable), and lived environment we take with us.

In some ways we can feel rock solid in our knowing, in others we can feel shaky.

When we meet new environments, people, life experiences or opportunities we can be met with a whole new experience through our confidence.

Its not “on forever”
Or “off forever”

Its fluid.

So if you’re feeling some “shaky Bambi legs” in an area right now - know that you’re doing a great job of flexing the muscle & building the skill of confidence.

We talk a lot about leadership horror stories on here and on my YouTube, but today i want to celebrate some really incredible leadership I’ve seen recently with some I.C.O.N.I.C leadership (an oldie but a goodie)

When I think iconic, I think impactful and timeless. Something that moves with us through our lives and has staying power because it’s grounded in human relationships and values.

Here are some concepts that act as a guiding light in my work (and something to check in with for myself)

Integrity- integrating our value system into everything we do

Communication - clear communication and transparency.

Ownership - owning our behaviours, words, biases, actions and I like to just say “we own our shit”

Nuance - always recognizing the fact that humans have different privilege, lived experience, environment, trauma or factors that play into their day to day life.

Intention & impact - which can be vastly different and we need to recognize that.

Consent & capacity - choice, autonomy and knowing our limits/bounds.

This is a framework I created for myself and a framework I have taught to countless companies, brands and business owners to combat toxic leadership traits.

The way I see social media is - if you consent to following me, you consent to all of me.

I’m in charge of how I utilize my platform, what I post, how I govern myself in the comments section or via dms, and what content I choose to discuss on here.

You get to choose if you want to see it and if you don’t that’s ok.

As consumers, our engagement, our follows, our eyeballs and likes tell the apps we use what we want to see more of.

But as creators, we get to build what we want to share with the world around us and people get autonomy/choice of if they want to stick around.

Thank you so much on all the love! I’m feeling very honoured to receive such a meaningful award!

I have always said that my degree in theatre is a “degree in life” and I feel very privileged to have been working with young people through the lens of theatre for over a decade, where they can be exactly who they are while simultaneously exploring exactly who they want to be. I feel so lucky that I get to listen to the voices and imaginations of young people with such a rich inner world, with diverse lived experiences across the province. To create spaces of community, expression and leadership in a way that prioritizes PLAY.

I’m so excited to not only be creating works to inspire young people to dream of the world they want to see, but to also let them know they have the power to create it. 💗 by @danidriusso

Last year I set an intention to fill my calendar so there were no “gaps” (if you’re self employed, you totally get this!). I accidentally flew a little close to the sun and started to get very overwhelmed with all my favourite things needing me to “deliver” on.

This is the risk of monetizing your passions. HOWEVER I also set an intention after the summer to find non-monetized hobbies.

I filmed this video over Xmas when I was sick BUT I hope the message rings true for the multi-passionate artists/entrepreneurs.

Your joy doesn’t need to be tied to your productivity or output of “art”. You can also do low stakes things and not feel guilty for it.
