My work was shown as part of a traveling exhibition with a final stop this week in Paris in a beautiful setting that is the home of Artcurial — the grand mansion overlooking the Rond Point des Champs-Élysées, just by avenue Montaigne and the fashion houses — for the 80th anniversary of ELLE. I couldn’t be there in person as I’m preparing for an upcoming exhibition, but my friends went and stood with my work for me. Their eyes, their presence, their photos… made me feel like I was there too. Grateful for this moment ✨🤍 Thank you to the Artcurial team and the ELLE team for their enthusiasm and energy, proceeds from the sale will benefit women’s initiatives by ELLE— and to Daniel and Anne-Valérie, my dear friends, Thank you for being there and holding the moment for me. See you in Paris! @artcurial__ @elleboutique #Artcurial #ELLE80 #contemporaryart #parisartscene #artistlife #artandfashion by @daniel.hamparsumyan

With the ADAA Art Show upon us in New York this week, we look back at this month’s vibrant European fairs focusing on Paris and its exceptional presentation of works by leading artists of modern and contemporary abstraction, in dialogue with ones focusing on representational art. Although the venue of the Grand Palais is well known, the relentless energy during the VIP preview and throughout the whole week @ArtBasel highlighted a breathtaking renovation with even the second-floor exhibition space looking spectacular. In addition, the fair partnered with exhibitions in multiple venues with the city hosting no less than 5 key satellite fairs. Numerous stellar museum shows and terrific gallery exhibitions confirmed that Paris has achieved a preeminent spot on the international calendar, blending brisk business with cultural events in an awe-inspiring setting, often pushing boundaries with a French touch. 🇫🇷🇨🇭✨✨✨ _ 📷📹 1. Don’t miss the chance to join Daniel Hamparsumyan as he discusses the life and works of Assadour, a renowned Lebanese-Armenian artist. See you at L’ART, 𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟰𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿.🖊️ The talk will cover the artist’s main themes resulting from his upbringing and multicultural influences: Through his works, filled with codes, signs, and fragments, Assadour seeks to find technical and artistic solutions to questions he asks himself. Born in Beirut, the well-traveled artist is not only aware of his origins as a member of an Armenian family but also of the rich traditions of a very wide variety of civilizations – from the Orient to the Latin world. We will address this permanent feeling of uprooting, as if the world is sliding towards an abyss that permeates throughout his works against the experience of reconstruction that shines regularly across his graphic and pictural landscape. 📍 37, Thurloe St London SW7 2LQ RSVP at art@janetradyfineart.com #JanetRadyFineArt #JanetRady #fineart #Artscoops #LARTLondon #TimeinMotion #Assadour #Soloshow #ArtExhibition #ArmenianArtist #LebaneseArtist #Contemporaryart #Contemporaryartist by @daniel.hamparsumyan

⏳ A S S A D O U R | TIME IN MOTION ⌛️ (I) Thrilled and honored to have collaborated with @janetrady and Raya and May Mamarbuchi @art_scoops on a truly remarkable exhibition featuring over four decades of Assadour’s artistic journey. “I am a painter of ambiguity and doubt, which is for me the source, the very place of creation” - Assadour TIME IN MOTION marks the first-ever solo exhibition of Lebanese-Armenian, Paris-based artist Assadour (b. 1943) in the United Kingdom and features a superb curated selection of his vibrant mixed-media work. He has brilliantly transcended throughout his practice, cultures as diverse and complex as the ones from the Middle East, Europe, Africa and South East Asia. Drawing on eclectic influences ranging from Buddhist iconography and African tribal masks to Renaissance paintings, Assadour’s body of work delves into thought-provoking themes that are inescapably ever-present in the world today: The passage of time, the construction of identity, chaos, displacement, civil war, genocide, destruction, reconstruction, resilience and ultimately hope. A genuine testimony of the universality of the human condition. 🟧🟡🟠⚪️🌅🌙✨🌍🌏🌎 ⏳TIME IN MOTION focuses on works from private collections spanning over four decades with a focus on his exceptional output on works on paper - temperas, gouaches, watercolors, etchings - and rare to the market paintings, highlighting his mastery of playing with geometric colored forms, against a backdrop of architectural landscapes. - 📷 1. 🗓️ 2. 22H06GMT, oil on canvas, 1998 3. The artistic journey of Assadour has never been more relevant than nowadays and on the last day of the 1st month of 2024 we take comfort in the artist’s almost spiritual meditation and look forward to more stable times ahead. ‘To No Man’s Land’ is a perfect example of his endless exploration of the themes of chaos, civil war, genocide, destruction and reconstruction. His practice is perhaps his lost paradise or is it hell? Leaving the viewer to decide. This bold work is now entrusted with a discerning collector and this year will see terrific exposure of his work that we will make sure to report on. ✨🌟⬜️🟨🟧🟥🌍 Throughout his career his has drawn from his fascination with technology and geometric landscape, filled his compositions with codes and signs without neglecting the human soul and body. - 📷 1-3. In the very last hours of 2023, we look back at one of the most memorable museum exhibitions of the year and certainly one for the ages: The stunning Mark Rothko (1903-1970) retrospective at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris - the largest devoted to the artist so far - which opened in the fall and will run through April 2024. 🟥⬛️🟩🟧🟦🟨⬜️ “Tragedy, ecstasy, doom, and so on…,” was Mark Rothko’s answer in 1957, when questioned about what he attempted to convey through his paintings. And above all, he declared “It is not color I am after, it’s light”. From the early figurative works to the much-celebrated iconic abstract compositions where one better canvas than the other is on view side by side, nothing can express the feeling of viewing his paintings in such a context, conveying an almost spiritual experience. _ 📷 A selection of works on view: “Mark Rothko” @fondationlv in Paris ranging from the forties to 1970. _ #Rothko #markrothko #fondationlouisvuittonparis #artadvisor #danielhamparsumyan by @daniel.hamparsumyan
We reflect on last week's Paris+ by Art Basel which seemed questionably immune to the geopolitical fury that has been unleashing since the beginning of the month. As if the commerce of art and the choice of exceptional museum exhibitions in Paris this month could relegate the intensely agonizing global situation to the background. Obviously, that sense of business as usual was rightfully challenged in private discussions considering the gravity of the current developments. The French capital did put its very best foot forward though, and Paris+ proved for a second year that it can equally compete with its Swiss counterpart and could soon potentially become the most globally important art fair. 🇫🇷🇨🇭✨ ✨ - A selection of artists and their works at the fair: 📷📹 1.
