Mobile Wellness Response Recap: January 22, 2024

Over the past week, we have witnessed an incredible outpouring of support from clinicians—including athletic trainers, chiropractors, massage therapists, and physical therapists—all uniting to serve the first responders tackling the LA Fires.

From giving up their days off to taking time off work and even traveling long distances (as far as Del Mar), the dedication of our healthcare community has been truly humbling. Collaborating with @ihan_clinics, we have been able to serve over 2,000 first responders in just the last few days.

Highlights from the Week:

Teams have been dispatched to fire stations and staging areas near Zuma Beach and the Rose Bowl, where first responders from across the U.S. and even other countries are stationed.

Monday: A team of clinicians served at the Rose Bowl in the morning before getting shut down.

Tuesday: @healthways.chiropractic led a team and served at Zuma Beach working with over 100 first responders.

Another team supported the LAFD at Station 4.

A couple of clinicians work with @ihan_clinics serving California Fire Strike Teams at their hotel in Los Angeles.

Current Plan for This Week:

Clinicians continue to head to Zuma Beach to serve the First Responders. If interested and available, please contact @healthways.chiropractic.

Although access to the Rose Bowl is currently restricted, our team is committed to finding alternative ways to support these brave first responders as they continue their efforts.

How You Can Help:

Clinicians interested in joining this initiative: Please reach out to me or @themyochiro to be added to the contact list.

Donate supplies: If you can donate gloves, massage creams, table wipes, KT/Rock Tape, or other items, contact @dr.dre_pt

Connections: if you know local fire stations interested in our services, please contact me or any of the following: @themyochiro, @spotphysicaltherapy, @dr.dre_pt, @healthways.chiropractic.

We are truly inspired by this collective effort and grateful for everyone who has contributed their time, energy, and resources. Together, we can make a difference for those working tirelessly to keep our communities safe! taken in Los Angeles, California by @danielchoi_pt

Sprinting is an underutilized tool in sports rehab and performance. 🏃‍♂️💨

Most rehab programs stay slow and controlled for too long. But your sport is not slow and controlled. At some point, your tissue has to handle real speed again.

Here is what the research says:

🔹 Hamstring protection — High-speed sprinting (80-90% max effort) drives similar adaptations to eccentric training, increasing fascicle length and lowering strain injury risk. When dosed appropriately, it can be protective.

🔹 Performance carryover — Resisted sprint work builds acceleration, while assisted sprinting lets athletes train above their max speed, exposing the nervous system to high levels of stimuli that would be hard to replicate otherwise.

🔹 Efficient dosing — Heavy loads at low volume can produce similar gains to lighter loads at higher volume, meaning sprinting fits into a program without piling on fatigue.

Incorporating different starting positions can also add variability to sprints and have the athletes exposed to different postures.

Rehab should not stop at “pain-free.” It should end at game-ready. taken in No Limit Personal Training by @danielchoi_pt

Post-Op Ankle Rehab: Light Plyometrics ⚽

This soccer athlete is rehabbing from her post-op ankle and is now preparing for plyos. She got here by hitting milestones in testing, including calf strength and rate of force development, not by the calendar alone.

Our approach: decelerate before we accelerate.

1️⃣ Build load capacity through deceleration: drop squats, drop lunges, and box drops train the foot and ankle to absorb and control force

2️⃣ Introduce light propulsion: pogos and countermovement box jumps begin to bring in the elastic component of plyometrics

Preparing the body to handle load first sets her up to return to soccer with confidence.

VALDCON Brisbane 2026 | VALD HQ 🇦🇺

What an incredible week.

Grateful to @vald_health and @vald_performance for the opportunity to connect with fellow practitioners and learn from some of the brightest minds in the rehab and performance space — all in the beautiful city of Brisbane.

Seeing the depth of work VALD continues to pursue as a leader in performance technology was nothing short of inspiring. The innovation happening in this space is pushing the standard of care forward in ways that directly benefit the athletes and clients we serve every day.

A huge shoutout to the contest winning crew — spending the week connecting and sharing ideas with colleagues from the East Coast and the Netherlands was one of the highlights of the trip. The conversations, the laughs, and the shared passion for elevating this field made this experience truly special.

And it would not have been complete without reconnecting with the @aussiecassowaries. Always a blessing.

Moments like these are a reminder of why community matters in this profession. We grow faster and go further together.

The Athletic ACL | @ignitephyzio 🔥

Spent the weekend diving deep into how the Ignite Phyzio team structures their ACL roadmap — from initial rehab all the way through return to sport and beyond.

What stood out most was the structure and purpose behind each aspect of their plan. The more I learned, the more I could see their passion and commitment to help get their athletes back better than before. That is the standard worth learning from and building upon.

Grateful for the Ignite Phyzio team sharing their knowledge generously and push the rest of us to raise the bar. And grateful to learn alongside colleagues who are just as hungry to elevate the quality of care we provide our athletes and clients.

“Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.” — Seneca

Two great pals, now setting off on their next chapter, leaving their mark on this community before they go.

@garrett.porter19 — wishing you nothing but the best as you step into this next chapter in Reno. I have no doubt you are going to mature into an incredible clinician in the chiropractic and rehab space. The dedication you have shown here at No Limit is only the beginning.

@nathaniel.winner — wishing you the best of luck across the pond as you pursue physiotherapy in England. Excited to see what adventure lies ahead for you as I know you are going to make the most of every moment.

This is a bittersweet goodbye, but whatever path each of you takes, I know both of you will give it your best and leave a positive impact on everyone you meet along the way. I cannot wait to watch you both grow into the incredible clinicians I already know you will become. taken in No Limit Personal Training by @danielchoi_pt
