Here’s another selection of beautiful photos by @geoffreyramaud from @creativecastlecollective at @monastere_de_segries. I’m in the studio today working on music derived from the emotions and reflections I experienced during my time there. by @danielcrook

@geoffreyramaud took some truly special photos of our time at @monastere_de_segries for @creativecastlecollective. Such an angel and such a remarkable time and crew. Excited to share more of his beautiful work in the coming days. Here I am pictured with my first love. by @danielcrook

What happens when artists stop creating for themselves and start creating through the lens of a phone? @danielcrook takes aim at algorithm culture, the fear of “cringe” and what he sees as an increasingly hollow obsession with cool. His plea to artists is simple: Be uncool again.

On the panopticon of cool and how it has destroyed earnestness in art and music in America. by @danielcrook

I had the unbelievable opportunity to be an artist in residence at @creativecastlecollective this year in the mountains outside of Riez France. While the founder and resident queen @naomi.greene has been a dear friend and collaborator for many years, I was for the most part arriving blind. The next five days of my life I would be surrounded, enveloped even by 39 artists across mediums and fields that would continually blow my mind in new ways each day. The softness, the kindness and the joy that filled the halls of the @monastere_de_segries was a medicine so powerful that I am still having trouble putting it to paper. I was lurching toward 40 filled with questions about my life as an artist. I walked in to this experience unsure if I had any left in me or if life and my choices in it had really bled me dry. All I needed was to be reminded, to be loved and to be celebrated in a child-like way; to play for the sake of play and to be thrown in to this euphoric fantasy with all of these incredible, gifted men and women from all over the world. It has reminded me that my art is, as it’s always been, a culmination of the influence of the artists that surround me. Thank you to everyone at creative castle this year for reminding me of who I am and showing me what I can be. I’m sorry that I can’t tag you all (I can’t remember everyone’s handles so please comment and I’ll add your tags! I also can’t remember who took certain videos and shared with me so please tell me so I can give proper credit!) Sincerely still in awe. - Daniel Crook. by @danielcrook
