Illustration, Design & Window Art. Joyful visual storytelling that brings information and experiences to life.

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I’ll be honest - summing up what I do as an illustrator in a few words? Nearly impossible. My love for design and colour has taken me in some unexpected directions, and I wouldn’t have it any other way! 🎨

Working with the amazing Gayle @tideandbloomsussex (the ultimate champion for Sussex creatives), I found a common thread running through all my work: STORYTELLING. More specifically:

✨Joyful visual storytelling that turns every day moments into something special. I bring your business story to life with custom illustrations that help you stand out - warm, welcoming, and unmistakably you.✨

But what does that actually look like? Swipe through to see how this approach comes to life - from seasonal shop window art to illustrated maps, eye-catching packaging design to engaging digital content.

💌 Do you have a creative project that could benefit from joyful visual storytelling? I’d love to hear about it - drop me an email at daniellebrooksillustration@gmail.com taken in Brighton and Hove by @daniellebrooks_illustrator

Join us for a relaxed autumn evening of candle painting, designed to ease you into cosy season with good company, a drink in hand, and a beautiful, one-of-a-kind candle to take home. As the evenings draw in and the first chill hits the air, there’s no better excuse to slow down, light a candle, and get creative.

You’ll start with a welcome drink and a demo, then take your time planning and practising your design before picking up your paintbrush and working at your own pace, no rushing, no pressure.

All abilities are welcome, whether you’re a confident crafter or picking up a paintbrush for the first time. We’ll provide everything you need: tapered candles, non-toxic paint and paint markers, and brushes, plus a set of sample designs for inspiration if you’d rather not start from a blank canvas. Think autumn botanicals, falling leaves, pumpkins, toadstools, folk art, and celestial patterns, or simply let the season guide your hand.

Guiding you throughout the evening will be talented Brighton-based illustrator Danielle Brooks, whose joyful, characterful work has graced everything from hand-painted murals to packaging for the likes of Canva and the William Morris Society. Known for bringing warmth, colour, and meticulous detail to everything she creates, Danielle will be on hand all evening with tips, encouragement, and extra demos whenever you need them, making sure you leave with a candle you’re proud of.

When: Thurs 8th October | 6:30 - 8:30pm
Price: £30pp - tickets available via our bio directly through hausofpalette.com

A peek behind the scenes of painting my book bench for the @brightonstorytrail

From submitting my design back in January, to seeing it out in the wild last week. A personal highlight for me has been working alongside so many talented artists who also happen to be delightful people ❤️

The Story Trail is now live until 8th November, where you can explore a city-wide gallery of BookBenches. Each one is an open book, painted by a local artist - so each design is completely unique and there is something for everyone.

The trail has been organised by @amazesussex - your local charity supporting families with disabled children.

Visit @brightonstorytrail to find out more about the trail and download the app - it’s the perfect way to explore Brighton this autumn while supporting an amazing local charity ✨

Ode to Joy is in Waterstones Hampstead’s window, with huge thanks to @daniellebrooks_illustrator and @sophieherx @sarahgavron ❤️

‘A moving testimony to the resilience of creatives… Ode to Joy achieves something beyond what text could alone’ - Financial Times

Ode to Joy is a unique and moving graphic novel about a Jewish family’s story of survival during the Second World War, and the persistence of art through the darkest times. Out now from Pushkin Press 🎨 taken in Waterstones Hampstead by @daniellebrooks_illustrator

Exciting times!! Today I visited the bench I painted for @brightonstorytrail which was installed earlier this week in Preston Park. The Story Trail officially kicks off this weekend and these brightly coloured benches have been gradually popping up around the city this week, each one painted by a different artist and completely unique 🩵

My bench design is all about embracing the windy weather to get out there and enjoy the amazing landscape in and around the city. Preston Park is the perfect location for it, with so many dog walkers and families passing through. Thanks so much to @trustedhousesitters for sponsoring my bench and making this possible.

Did I intentionally dress to match my bench? Absolutely!

….

@amazesussex , your local charity supporting families with disabled children, has partnered with @wildinart to bring you The Story Trail—a free, fun and family-friendly adventure.

Between 12 September and 8 November 2026, you can explore a city-wide gallery of more than 30 BookBenches. Each one is an open book, designed by a talented local artist and waiting to be discovered.

Taking inspiration from what’s around me… the current reality is that my garden is more of a dry patch of grass with some overgrown plants around the side, so this is an aspirational take! taken in Hove by @daniellebrooks_illustrator
