Haus of Palette opened last December and we’ve waited ALL year to start hosting our cosy season workshops. We’re a homewares and interiors shop in Hove, decorated to feel warm and inviting to create a home from home shopping experience.

Our events are a big part of building our community and last Thursday we hosted a candle painting evening with @daniellebrooks_illustrator - though you don’t have to be arty or crafty to take part and if you’re shy, a lot of our guests come on their own and by the end of the night are chatting away with everyone.

It’s a chance to indulge in something mindful, an evening where nobody needs anything from you, everything’s here ready to go, including a glass of fizz, to boot!

By the end of the class you’ll have something to take home with you, and perhaps more importantly realising that sometimes it’s nice just to make something just because you enjoyed making it.

If you’re interested in what’s coming up this festive season, sign up to our mailing list and you’ll be the first to hear.

A reminder of the incredible talent we have right here in the heart of Sussex! Beautiful to see these benches, designs seeing something that brings people closer together!

We really enjoyed the book trail made possible by @wildinart which is raising money for @amazesussex and the amazing work they do.

I’ve tried to list as many of the artists as possible but there are so many and they’ve all done an incredible job!!

Join us for a relaxed autumn evening of candle painting, designed to ease you into cosy season with good company, a drink in hand, and a beautiful, one-of-a-kind candle to take home. As the evenings draw in and the first chill hits the air, there’s no better excuse to slow down, light a candle, and get creative.

You’ll start with a welcome drink and a demo, then take your time planning and practising your design before picking up your paintbrush and working at your own pace, no rushing, no pressure.

All abilities are welcome, whether you’re a confident crafter or picking up a paintbrush for the first time. We’ll provide everything you need: tapered candles, non-toxic paint and paint markers, and brushes, plus a set of sample designs for inspiration if you’d rather not start from a blank canvas. Think autumn botanicals, falling leaves, pumpkins, toadstools, folk art, and celestial patterns, or simply let the season guide your hand.

Guiding you throughout the evening will be talented Brighton-based illustrator Danielle Brooks, whose joyful, characterful work has graced everything from hand-painted murals to packaging for the likes of Canva and the William Morris Society. Known for bringing warmth, colour, and meticulous detail to everything she creates, Danielle will be on hand all evening with tips, encouragement, and extra demos whenever you need them, making sure you leave with a candle you’re proud of.

When: Thurs 8th October | 6:30 - 8:30pm
Price: £30pp - tickets available via our bio directly through hausofpalette.com
Where: Haus of Palette, 188 Church Road, Hove, BN3 2DJ

This weekend we were out as a family spotting benches as part of the @brightonstorytrail
As well as raising money for @amazesussex they’re a lovely way to bring people together and to create new stories. Using the city as a playground to create community and to get families out into the fresh air, my mob obviously would have preferred to be on screens but when dragged out, they loved discovering all the different designs and searching them out.

Very cool and a reminder that if you build it, they will come.

- what could you create that will benefit the community? It’s fine if it’s commercial, it just needs to deliver memorable experiences.

Thanks for @daniellebrooks_illustrator for alerting me to this (and for painting one)

Also very aware these are absolutely awful pics and don’t do any of the bench sculptures justice, go yourself and get good pics!

“There’s only the bride waiting for me, and she’s covered in blood...”

Who will be lucky enough to spot this copy of She Started It by Sian Gilbert, hidden by a book fairy today?

About the book:

This is the hen do to end all hen dos. And you’re invited…

Poppy Greer is getting married and four of her old schoolmates are to be her trusted bridesmaids. They may have drifted but true friendships last a lifetime, don’t they?
Plus, who would pass on a free first-class ticket to white sands and bottomless cocktails on a private Caribbean island?

But the women have underestimated their host, and each other. And as their darkest secrets are revealed, the trip of their dreams becomes the hen do from hell.

Will anyone make it off the island alive?
