This fly is one of my go-to flies for seatrout fishing at the coast! Several times when other flies didn't work, this one caught trout for me.

I use Whiting Spey feathers from a hen cape. I don't know if that's what does the trick. You never know. When you have luck with one type of fly, you tend to use it again—of course!

The body gives a subtle flash effect and is still has some transparency due to the body hackle.

The Picker (Plukkeren)! 🎣

A 60-second tutorial on my favourite “second choice” fly for seatrout.

When you know there are fish around but they’re not interested in your go-to fly, sometimes it pays to change fly instead of making more 10 casts 😁

Two spey feathers. One hook. That’s basically it.

That pause in your retrieve can be the trigger. Seatrout will often take the fly while it just hangs in the water.

Simple fly. Simple technique. Sometimes that’s all you need.

My second choice fly when I know there are seatrout on the spot, but they’re not biting my go-to fly.

Sometimes you just need this fly to pick one or two from the school👍 My experience is that it's more effective to change fly than cast several times with the first attractor fly.

Two feathers, one hook - that’s all you need for this one😁 It has loads of movement in the water and is super simple to tie.

Because it’s unweighted, you can fish it ultra slow and give it a long hang time when you pause the retrieve.

Seatrout will often take when the fly hangs in the water.

Sometimes frustrating situations call for simple flies and fishing techniques - and patience😁

The Dragon Perch - I love to hunt these striped predators on fly, and this fly is working for me.

Just a little tip: as shown in the tutorial, put a small piece of non-lead wire into the tungsten bead. This stops it from turning or gliding away from the hook eye.

Adding curly tails to your flies gives your fly a totally different action. It allows you to fish very slowly and still have movement in your fly. The type of curly tail I use here is called dragon tail.

Let this fly sink to the bottom of the water and wait for the action🐟

The Dragon Perch 🐉This pattern has proven its worth for me over the last week. Perch are such great fighters in their weight class!

This species can fascinate both young and experienced anglers. Often you catch them on a worm as a child and later hunt them with many various techniques. Catching them on fly is still my favorite way, even though I'm not too old to use a bobber and worm if the mood is for that kind of fishing.

Lost a meter pike a couple of days ago on this fly. Don't want to talk more about that.....😂

What better way to celebrate that than posting another fly tying tutorial. Craft fur baitfish is always worth a row in yor fly box!

When I started sharing my fly tying back in 2022, I never imagined this many people would want to watch my flies. It's a wild thought that 10,000 people at least one time thougt that my content was worth watching. During a COVID quarentain my lovely wife asked if I should post my flies, and that was the beginning of "Danish Fly Tying". So if you like seeing my posts then thank her for inspirering me to get it all started.

Every like, comment and message means a lot to me. This community keeps me inspired to keep creating, experimenting, and hopefully improving.

I just love using pheasant feathers in my fly tying. A fairly cheap material which has almost endless possibilities. Get a full hide and you have feathers for so many different flies!

This fly is made for seatrout fishing at the coast in Denmark. I tie it unweighted so it is perfect for low water.

Look closely👇

This is a close-up of how I start and finish my flies with a whipfinish. A macro lens really shows the details of the thread and the wraps. No fish will ever look that closely at your fly, but paying attention to details is what brings out the beauty in your flies and fly tying.

I would recommend you try whip finishing by hand, even though I'm not that good at it myself. The whip finish tool used in this video was my first, and by far the one I'm most familiar with. Use what you feel most comfortable with.
