Un proyecto muy especial sobre los Seri, muchas gracias a @karlamartinezdesalas @voguemexico y todo el team.

Entre el desierto y el mar de Sonora, México, se perpetúa la existencia del pueblo seri.

Este pueblo originario tiene un nombre que deriva de la lengua yaqui. Su endónimo es Comca’ac, pero seris es su serónimo, y que para ellos significa ‘la gen- te’. Su territorio se encuentra en Sonora, en la isla del Tiburón y la costa adyacente, como el El Desemboque, en el municipio de Pitiquito, y Punta Chueca, un municipio de Hermosillo.

Sus tierras abren la mirada a encontrarse con casas tradicionales, lejos de la exuberancia de cualquier ciudad. Caminar por sus espacios es encontrarse con matronas llenas de sabiduría y si llegas hasta el mar, puedes ver de lejos las barcas con los pescadores. Lo que ves ahí, es una raza sin mestizaje aún, con las estrellas como refugio y con un legado que nos muestra el lado más duro de la resiliencia, ese que te permite pararte y ver hacia donde vas, y en este caso, sin que nadie los defina.
