This is a serious one, which is weird, almost all of you know me for my comedy. What a lot of you don’t know is the path here. Today, I am 30 years old. Seven years ago, I was a 354-pound 23-year old who had almost had his life ended by a drunk driver. It was the moment that led to a change, but it wasn’t a single moment, it was a million, compounded, finally leading to change.

Why do I post this? Because so many are struggling. They think it’s over. They don’t have what it takes. But I was 354 pounds. I told my family to stop doing interventions because I was ready to give my life over to food. Luckily, my switch flipped. And if life is kind enough to flip your switch, even through pain, you must take it and run with it.

I did that literally. You can do it as you see fit. I’ve run 14 ultra marathons, I have big plans for future athletic endeavors. The main thing though, I’ve been beaten down even more. Running put me in the hospital, gave me broken bones, legit injuries, but you need to keep the switch flipped. Every hand, some you even know, will try and dull your light. They will try and hit the switch for you. Don’t let them. On the other side of almost a decade of suffering, pain, but pushing myself to areas I never thought possible, I can assure you, every step was worth it. If even just one of you takes that step today after seeing this, my job is done.

Thanks for loving my comedy, I hope you love this side of me as well.

I’m very proud of these jokes. So much so, that I just released a full 15 minute set on my YouTube. I haven’t don’t that in years. “White Guy with Asperger’s” is a full set from the famous @comedycellarusa in New York, and includes some of the jokes I’ve worked most over the last few years. It would mean so much if you could check it out. It’s scary to constantly put yourself out there, but it’s the only way to grow!

Throwback to my appearance on the newest season of Comics Unleashed on CBS earlier this year. It was my last taste of Hollywood before heading to the mountains. They put so much makeup on me, some say you can still see it on my face.

I would go through every failure, every falter, and every misstep again, a thousand times over, if at the end it leads me to that finish line, with that person cheering me on, making me feel supported in a way I have never felt supported. In the thick of the shit, we may not understand why everything is happening to us, but then one day, the fog clears and we realize, damn, all of that was happening FOR me, not to me.

Some of you understand why I chase what I chase, some of you do not, all I can hope is that in this lifetime you find the thing that makes you feel alive, the thing that gives you hope, and the thing that turns you into a force that refuses to quit. Because when you stay in constant pursuit of your true North Star, the people who end up in your life are worth more than every finish line, every trophy and every belt buckle.

I hope you can see and feel the emotion felt, and the emotion that @jessica.inthemountains felt too, my dream became her dream, and that’s a beautiful thing.

I am officially an 100-mile finisher; years in the making, countless failures, but I finally did it! I knew after DNF’ing Leadville just two weeks ago due to rhabdo, I had to get immediate redemption. I signed up for this race earlier in the week, not knowing if the body could take it. I was able to pull off a 24:09 finish and second place! I kept it quiet, just amongst my close circle, and me and @jessica.inthemountains drove to Loveland, Colorado so I could run 50 laps around the same 2 miles. It was one of their hottest days ever, touching mid-90’s. I would have quit 1,000 times over if it wasn’t for Jess. She kept me moving, didn’t let me pull out when my mind turned, and made sure I finally accomplished this almost decade long dream. Incredibly thankful for everyone through the years who dedicated their time to my crazy pursuits. Also, shoutout to Front Range Ultra Dayze for a great race. Time to rest.
