SOME PLACES NEVER REALLY LEAVE US…

Our first day of the DANMAR Arabic Dance Intensive II felt like so much more than the beginning of a new course.

As I looked around the room, I saw so many familiar faces; women who have been part of DANMAR at different moments, in different years, and through different generations…. And somehow, after all this time, here we are again. 🥹

A few years older….Some of us now mothers… even grandmothers. Some graduated, married, built careers, created businesses, raised families, and continued moving forward through all the beautiful chapters of life.

We have changed. Life has changed. But somehow, the love for dance is still there, and so is that little piece of DANMAR that each of us carried with us along the way.

For many of these women, DANMAR was once a place where they danced, learned, grew, performed, dreamed, laughed, and became a little more of who they are today.

Now, years later, we get to come back together and experience it again…differently, as the women we have become… and perhaps that is one of the most beautiful things about dance…connection, friendship, confidence, memories, growth, and belonging.

You can walk away from the studio for years, but somehow, when the music starts again, a part of you remembers exactly where home is.

Welcome back to DANMAR ladies✨
And what a beautiful feeling it is to dance together again.

WELCOME TO DANMAR ARABIC DANCE INTENSIVE II! ✨✨✨✨

And just like that… we begin.

Tonight, this beautiful group of powerful women came together to start a new journey! Five more weeks of movement, music, challenge, connection, and growth.

Over the next five weeks, we’ll dance, sweat, laugh, learn, make mistakes, try again, and discover just how powerful we can feel when women come together and support one another.

To every woman standing in this photo: thank you for trusting me and DANMAR with this experience. Whether this is completely new to you or another chapter in your dance journey, I am SO excited for what we’re about to create together.

Six weeks. Countless memories. One beautiful journey.

What began as a dance intensive became so much more than learning technique and choreography. It became a space where women came together with a shared love for movement, music, and self-expression.

Over these six weeks, I witnessed hard work, dedication, perseverance, and growth. I watched students push through challenges, celebrate victories, rediscover their confidence, and fall even more in love with this beautiful art form.

I saw teamwork, encouragement, laughter, and genuine friendships blossom. I witnessed powerful comebacks, personal breakthroughs, and the kind of support that only happens when a group of women chooses to lift each other up.

Arabic dance is more than steps and combinations. It is passion, culture, artistry, strength, and soul. And every woman in this group brought her own unique light to the journey.

As a teacher, there are few things more rewarding than watching students grow—not only as dancers, but as people. My heart is full of gratitude for each woman who trusted me, worked hard, showed up week after week, and became part of this incredible experience.

Thank you for your commitment, your energy, your friendship, and your passion for dance.

This may be the end of our first intensive together, but it is only the beginning of many more dances, memories, and moments to come.

Keep dancing.
Keep shining.
Keep believing in yourselves.

Your shimmies are not just a movement… they are the heartbeat of your dance.

Every strong belly dancer is built through repetition, patience, control, and practice.
The more you practice your shimmies, the more your body begins to understand rhythm, layering, musicality, stamina, and flow.

At first, it may feel tiring, awkward, or impossible…
But one day, something shifts.
Your body relaxes.
The vibration becomes natural.
The music starts living inside you.

Shimmies teach discipline.
They build endurance.
They awaken confidence, femininity, and power on stage.

So don’t skip the basics.
Don’t rush the process.
Mastery is hidden inside the repetition nobody sees.

Practice your shimmies even when it’s messy.
Especially then.
