Seeing a former Cadet surpass you is the greatest achievement for any leader. A short 5 years ago this Ranger was a Cadet of mine at NC State. Now he’s crossing the finish line as one of the Army’s best Rangers. You have my praise Jake. Can’t wait to see what you will accomplish next. 2 years ago, this young private showed up at Camp Rogers on his basic training family day stating that he wanted to be a Ranger and wished to spend his day on Camp, learning what he can. I showed him Malvesti where he would start his journey and Victory Pond, where he would finish. 2 years later, he showed up, and here he is. Many talk, few do. Now heading to be a cadet at @armyrotctcu. Congrats brother, lead well. *I spent my basic training family day eating Taco Bell and sleeping. taken in Victory Pond, Ft Benning, Ga by @danmay252

Fun fact: 100% of people who don’t attend Ranger School don’t have a Ranger Tab.

Don’t self sabotage before you’ve even tried. The staggering number of service members who make excuses as to why Ranger School isn’t for them is unacceptable…don’t cast your lot in with them. This school will teach you things that you literally cannot get from anywhere else short of real world combat. It will reveal your weaknesses, your poor habits, and your lack of knowledge and give the opportunity to fix it. It’s the best life insurance policy you can give yourself and your formation in the profession of arms.

So…Why not you? taken in Fort Benning, Georgia by @danmay252

”…dedicated to all Rangers past, present and future.”

Those words are carved into the wall behind these two Rangers. That’s the whole mission in one line.

Past — the names in the granite. Present — the ones standing here. Future — the ones who haven’t started the journey yet.

One Memorial holds all three.

As an Officer, you should take immense pride and honor when NCOs ask you to re-enlist them. Serving and leading in this Country is a beautiful thing. Congrats brother, proud of the growth I’ve seen over the years and looking forward to seeing the PSG you will become. taken in Victory Pond, Ft Benning, Ga by @danmay252

With that, a Ranger legend has retired. COL Chris Hammonds has held countless positions in the 75th Ranger Regiment and airborne units. He has numerous deployments and served as Ranger 6 for ARTB when I was a company commander. Sir, you have had a profound impact on me and all you have led, and I cannot thank you enough. Excited to see the impact you’ll have in your next chapter. America thanks you. God bless. RLTW! 🇺🇸 taken in National Infantry Museum by @danmay252
