Height 4.5m*Diameter 12m, Multi-sensory Immersive Interactive Experience, 2023

Growth, Blossoms, and Beyond subtly interweaves the human, natural, and socio-cultural worlds in an immersive virtual botanic garden. The viewer is placed in a botanic garden of the future by bringing them closer to the deep complexities of our fascinating world in the new media art installation. While they explore the wonders of nature, they can also observe closely the impact of climate change on the world, comprehend the relationship between human behavior and the environment, and understand the immense importance of biodiversity. Growth, Blossoms, and Beyond conveys the same environmentally-conscious philosophy in line with Lancôme’s belief in sustainable development, calling for people to look at nature‘s many marvels and respect the connection between all creatures.

Constructs of the Unseen is a data sculpture and real-time light installation that takes Shanghai’s public telecommunications infrastructure as its subject. By continuously transmitting signals from three coordinates embedded in the artist’s daily movements across the city to a single network node, the work captures millisecond-level latency shaped by the physical routing of fibre cables, geographic distance, and the spatial organisation of urban network infrastructure. This accumulated data is translated through parametric modelling into 3D-printed organic forms, set within an industrial steel armature threaded with hand-crocheted copper wire. Frosted acrylic panels interrupt the structure, diffusing and redirecting light as it moves through the work. The sculpture fixes a record of the past; the light responds to the present in real time.

Sharing some experiments and behind-the-scenes from my time at @swatchartpeacehotel

For the past two months, I’ve been developing a new light installation that investigates the hidden layers behind our digital world. The piece is structured as a dialogue between past and present: local data from Shanghai is transformed into a fixed data sculpture, while live data controls the lighting system. These digital elements are physicalised and woven together with 3D-printed model, industrial metal structures, matte surfaces, and hand-crocheted copper wire.
