A belated thank you for such an energetic opening of “Knowledge is Myth: Chimeric Continuities” on view @carpenter_center_harvard through December 13

This exhibition features works by four artists and collectives Enzo Camacho & Ami Lien, Candice Lin, Cole Lu @colelu and AYDO (Ayoung Yu & Nicholas Oh) @aydo_studio that complicate the binaries of mythology and knowledge, and their constructs + a selection of interinstitutional loans from archives and libraries across @harvard — stay tuned for more information soon about a NYC program / research talk with some of the artists at Asia Art Archive in America in December! 👁️

In @seepackard ‘s cosmic roundup of exhibitions in @friezeofficial ft @xin_liu_studio ‘s “The White Stone” a pseudo-documentary following the earthbound afterlife of rocket debris, a video work that has haunted me since we first spoke on her practice. The exhibition “Cosmos Falling” also included works by Lawrence Lek (Geomancer, 2017); Yuyan Wang (The Moon Also Rises, 2023); and Angela Su (Cosmic Call, 2019) and was organized this early spring @carpenter_center_harvard

“…Part of a cohort that approaches space’s romanticization from a starkly different angle, these contemporary artists cast the theories and technologies that mediate our engagement with outer space as actors in theatres of intimate experience: an imperfect mode, but one that accommodates the productive mess and complex reckoning that intimacy implies and demands. Working towards a new poetics of space science, their tableaux – of love, desire, loss, kinship, obligation – probe how human relationships inform and map onto our relationship with the cosmos; toggling between scales, their metaphors invite us to conceive of the universe as an ecosystem of which we are already part. Which is to say: looking upward also means looking inward, and around. In Lem’s Solaris, the cyberneticist Snaut declares: ‘We have no need of other worlds. We need mirrors.’ To which I might add the line attributed to poet Paul Éluard: ‘There is another world, but it is in this one’.”
