Another Year lived! And I mean lived. I am grateful for all the feelings, the heart breaks, the soul hugs and everything in between.

10 years ago I imagined being 38 and that it would be a very different life to what I have today.

This is both aesthetically and energetically. Back then I did not even understand how big life could feel. I could not imagine the people I would meet, the people who would break my heart, or the incredible women who would inspire me, or the art I would witness or the friends who would keep breaking down my hearts cynical walls. I have been so fortunate for everyone who crossed my path in the last decade. And I am even more fortunate for those that hang around for the next bunch of years.

In the past year I have cried more than any other year and I have no regrets. I cried over grief and loss in the world and communities around me, over differenr things ending in my own life and realising some things were not as I thought they were. I cried out of frustration and grief of working hard and not to get where I thought I would. But most importantly I cried deep joyful tears as well. Particularly with Carnivale in Rio and witnessing that much passion, resilience and love in one pocket of the world has changed so much in me.

I am so happy and grateful for the life I have lived. Thank you to everyone, whether you read this far or not.

As always, instead of just a happy birthday - I love a funny anecdote or joke about how we met or something we have done in our time together. The greatest gifts in my life truly are the incredible people I meet. by @daphmanhattan

The many faces of the past 20-something years.

Turning 37 and finding myself in awe of how much I am still learning about myself, and when I look at these photos and think of all the life I've lived, I have no regrets.

Not all the people in those photos are in my life, but they all made my life better for having known them.

Today is my birthday and I'll be 35, as all my friends will know I don't usually celebrate and avoid it all together for my own reasons.

But this year, I've decided I still don't want to celebrate, I might just start by acknowledging the day publicly in my own way. Something something 7 year cycles.....

Instead of just wishing me a happy birthday, if you do want to say something, share a story about how we know each other or a funny tale about me and you.

This is baby steps for me, and I am super cautious about public things. So, please only engage with this post if you're following my wishes. If you don't have a story , I'll just assume you would wish me happy birthday and you don't need to write those words.

If you are going to be one of my super generous friends, not into gifts, a funny tale is a gift enough. Or if you want to gift more, send me $5 on payid - mobile number. I'm getting a new swimsuit from hakea to treat myself today. You know me, it ticks all the boxes, eco, local design, costly endeavour. I am so happy to pay myself, I just anticipate a well-meaning friend or two may ask if they can give something, so that's your avenue, son.

The last thing I want is for it to be a day with obligatory messages of well wishing. Instead, I'd like to have a genuine dopamine hit from a happy or laugh worthy memory with you. ✌️💕 by @daphmanhattan
