Many of us are trying to weave together different commitments and ways of understanding the world.

Movement building. Healing. Spiritual practice. Leadership. Community. Survival. Collective liberation.

We need all of them. Yet they often live in separate conversations, separate organizations, and separate parts of ourselves.

On Friday, we're joined by Dara Silverman (Embodying Racial Justice) for a Lumos Community Chat.

Drawing on decades of experience in movements for racial, economic, gender, and social justice, Dara will join us for a conversation about what this political moment is asking of leaders, movements, and communities, and how we build the capacity to meet it together.

We'll explore what Dara is noticing, what feels necessary now, where she finds possibility, and what becomes available when we stop treating these streams of work as separate, instead learning to sequence and weave them together.

“I felt like a wide channel for truth.”

A student of ours was recently cross-examined at the trial of three activists arrested while protesting at an ICE detention center. Her attorney said it was like a master class.

Afterward, she wrote:

“I felt for my back and felt my width in the witness chair. I two-stepped and held the temple bowl in the restroom on a break. I felt like a wide channel for truth. I can feel how much more can move through me now.”

This is what the practice is for. Not just quiet mornings — but the witness chair. The moment someone tries to rattle you and your body knows what to do.

She practiced and practiced and practiced. And when the moment came, she was ready. ✨

An ERJ participant wrote us about her experience in the streets- she was a marshall at a March and was blocking traffic at a protest in Memphis when a truck accelerated straight toward her.

She got out of the way. Barely.

She wrote to me after: “I was embodying my NO all the way through.”

That line has been living in our bodies ever since.

How many reps does it take before a NO is there when everything is moving fast?

That’s what this work is about.
