Wait one mudda f**king minute!! When white racists attack and defame Michelle Obama, a Black woman, they are not simply targeting one person. They are invoking slave master mentality, a long and painful history in which Black women were portrayed as less feminine, less beautiful, and less worthy of dignity and respect than their white counterparts. During slavery and segregation, these stereotypes were used to justify oppression, exploitation, rape, and the denial of a Black women’s humanity. That legacy has not disappeared, it continues whenever people attempt to demean, dehumanize, or mock Black women based on such disgusting racist tropes.Michelle Obama is not just one woman. She represents the strength, intelligence, resilience, and beauty found in countless Black Mothers, sisters, daughters, nieces, cousins, friends, and neighbors. I am disgusted and feeling helpless by the recent South Carolina acquittal in the shooting death of 14 year old Cyrus Carmack-Belton. The facts that a teenager was chased and shot in the back by an Asian American business owner and his son raises serious questions about justice, accountability, and how we value young Black lives in America! FULL STOP! Cyrus’s life mattered. His family deserves answers, and Black communities deserve a justice system that inspires confidence rather than OUTRAGE! Why does this verdict matters to me? Because Cyrus Carmack-Belton is my nephew. He is my cousin. He is my brother. He is my friend. He is my son.When a 14 year old child loses his life over allegedly stealing bottles of water, it is not just one family’s tragedy, it’s a wound felt throughout the entire Black community.
