It was such an honor to meet the Deputy Prime Minister & minister of foreign affairs of Thailand! As someone who believes in the power of cultural understanding and global connection, I’m grateful for the opportunity to represent Hawaiʻi while sharing a conversation rooted in mutual respect and appreciation. Leadership has the ability to bring people together across cultures and borders.A couple years ago, I had the privilege of speaking at schools throughout Thailand as part of @UnityAcrossBorders mission, sharing my cultural education curriculum and learning alongside students and educators. Those experiences left a lasting impact on me, making this moment feel like a true full-circle experience.A heartfelt mahalo to @theorchidleicompany for creating the beautiful lei I had the honor of presenting. Aloha! I’m Darja, Miss Hawaiʻi USA 2026! Mahalo nui loa to all of my family, friends, mentors, & community who have supported me on this journey. Your unwavering trust in me has been my biggest strength. Behind every milestone in my life has been a village of people who chose to believe in me before I fully believed in myself. This journey wouldn’t be possible without YOU. And to my Miss Hawaiʻi USA sisterhood, thank you for filling this experience with so much love, kindness, and unforgettable memories. I’m so excited to weave the threads of my personal life into a greater tapestry of advocacy through this role. Outside of pageantry, I’m a flight attendant with @HawaiianAirlines, founder of the @UnityAcrossBorders Foundation, and a speed painter in my free time. I’ve always embraced every multifaceted part of who I am, and I hope to inspire others to do the same. To take up space fully, boldly, creatively, and authentically.At the center of all of this is simply my love for Hawaiʻi. These islands and this community have shaped so much of who I am, and they’ve carried me through some of the most difficult seasons of my life with so much love and grace. The spirit of aloha is something I hold deeply in my heart, and I’m beyond honored to represent a place that means so much to me. Through this role, I hope to shine more light on the realities of housing displacement and crisis recovery in Hawaiʻi, helping transform stories that often go unseen into something understood.
