DFOS R.01 · Hacienda

This is the time after. This is the time before.

Every time the public square turns hostile, people don’t disappear. They go somewhere else. The monastery. The salon. The pirate station. The group chat.

We’ve been living inside someone else’s house.

DFOS is the first Operating System for shared private internets.

The forest was already here. We paved the roads inside it.

I’ve been writing Popular for 3 years. 162 letters. and most of them were buried under “see all” where nobody (including me) could find them

so I went back through every single one and sorted them into a library on Dark Forest OS (@darkforestos) on writing, on rituals, on creative blocks, on self knowledge, on research, on connection, plus two shelves of book recs

We’re doing an experiment at TIAT on creating artist studios ⭐️ This week, we’ll be talking about concepting …

Our guest this week is Daniel Kuntz! Daniel is an artist, designer, and engineer currently creating starboy (@lilguynet ), an adorable, wearable digital pet that behaves like a real living creature.

What is STUDIO WORKS? It’s an experimental artist incubator we’re doing at TIAT. Together with DFOS and Metalabel, we’re bringing together a cohort (including you?) to ask: can we build practices around making things we want?

In the experiment, we’re developing an artifact rooted in our individual creative practices, moving through desire, concepting, prototyping, production, distribution, and sales while learning from artist-led studios and building alongside one another. At the end, we’ll release what we made together.

For: Artists, designers + creative technologists in the Bay Area
When: Monday evenings, Sept 21–Nov 14
Where: TIAT, 151 Powell St, San Francisco
Outcome: Develop, produce + release one artifact
RSVP: https://tiat.dfos.com
Please register and RSVP on DFOS, there is a $10 ticket entry.

9/28 Agenda
7:00pm Doors
7:10pm Programming begins
7:15pm Daniel Kuntz studio overview + Q/A
7:35pm Group Exercise
8:00pm Studio work time / coworking till midnightish

We’re looking for a flexible collaborator who works with video editing to help us tell our stories in video.

Not a full-time role. Project by project, some of it ongoing. Remote is fine.

If that’s you, or someone you know, DM us or write to hello@dfos.com
