Hadja Mariama Jalloh Fofana,
My one and only grandmother I had the privilege of knowing on this earthly plane. The one I was called for, has passed on to the hereafter. My beloved grandmother has instilled compassion, nurture and advocacy not only within my family, but also in the country of Sierra Leone. Her voice, passion for eduction and determination for gender equity in Sierra Leone has left an everlasting legacy that will be felt by generations of Sierra Leonean women and girls to come. From helping codify into law literacy and education mandates for girls to working towards ending SGBV (sexual and gender based violence) and FGM (female genital mutilation). She has led her life as example in practicing community and uplifting the meek and most marginalized among us. The most amazing woman I ever met happened to be my grandmother and there is no greater gift. I love you so much, and will feel your presence for the rest of my life. May Allah (SWT) grant you safe passage.
