Yes, I know… “Dar, you’re not doing weddings anymore!”
But when a mother calls and asks if I’ll photograph her son’s wedding, a son whose Bar Mitzvah I photographed and who I remember so well, I couldn’t say no!
And it was small, intimate, and at @oleanabuzz (the staff & @rhartie7 were kind and fun & the food-lord have mercy!). The energy and love was palpable.
Last night was a reminder of why I’ve loved doing this for SO many years. Grateful. #grateful #weddings #dowhatyoulovelovewhatyoudo❤️ by @darlafoto

Extraordinary day spent with my longtime friend Todd Gieg. For the past 20 years, Todd has been creating an incredible handcrafted diorama. The level of detail, patience, and artistry is simply mind-blowing.
Man, Todd! Hearing the stories behind its creation, how it’s made, rand the unbelievable attention to detail, PATIENCE. Lordy. It’s deeply personal, too, with a few friends and neighbors woven into the scene. A true labor of love.
Ever more important we caught up, we laughed, we hung out with Amy and their lovely son Max. Grateful.

Me and Ron in Denver, CO... and those smiles? Chelsea WON, again!
What an incredible honor to stand with so many passionate people sharing what makes their cities shine. Watching Chelsea on a national stage filled me with so much pride and gratitude.
This award celebrates what makes Chelsea so special: neighbors who show up for one another, volunteers who give their time, organizations that work together, and residents who believe everyone belongs. Chelsea's strength has never been about one person or one program, it's about a community that comes together, lifts each other up, and finds solutions together. Chelsea Pa'lante! (movingforward).

The light. You see it, capture it, one second later it’s gone! Another reason I appreciate being a photographer. The vision will never leave. The technical s#%* will. need it? At some point no.
