30 years ago today, 112 released their self-titled debut album, 112, on August 27, 1996, introducing the Atlanta quartet as one of Bad Boy Records’ signature R&B acts.

Featuring Slim, Mike, Q, and Daron, the album blended smooth harmonies with Hip-Hop-influenced production and delivered standout records like “Only You,” “Come See Me,” and “Cupid.” The remix to “Only You” featuring The Notorious B.I.G. and Mase became a major crossover moment and helped push the group further into the mainstream.

112 helped establish the group as one of the defining R&B acts of the late ’90s while strengthening Bad Boy’s presence beyond Hip-Hop. Its mix of romantic slow jams, polished harmonies, and rap collaborations became an important part of the label’s signature sound. 🔊
