Black History Month: Growing up there was a stereotype that was hung over black Quarterbacks.. They were considered by the powers that be,not smart enough to run the so called sophisticated offenses of the NFL or to lead a team. Just simply labeled athletes..This was something that really hit home for me & I couldn’t understand as a kid because I didn’t see many quarterbacks in the NFL that looked like me and that was the position that I always played as a kid and was my dream. My dad spent countless hours instilling into my head & giving me the confidence that I could be whatever I wanted to be in life.. And then At 16 yrs old I became the 1st ever black starting varsity Quarterback at my high school.. Ladies and Gentlemen the year is now 2020 and The Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson is the MVP of the NFL.. The NFLs offensive rookie of the year is the Cardinals QB Kyler Murray.. The super bowl campion Chiefs QB & MVP is Patrick Mahomes.. The narrative has finally been changed! Thanks to #17 Doug Williams, #17 Jefferson st. Joe Gilliam, #12 Randal Cuningham, #1 Warren Moon, #9 Steve Air McNair and #7 Michael Vick.. The Quarterback position has been revolutionized.. I can’t make this up.. It’s Black History... #KWales #blackhistory365✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿
