$Since 2020, the French Ministry of Culture and the Festival of Photojournalism Visa pour l’Image – Perpignan have awarded two grants, each for €8,000, to female photographers in recognition of their contribution to photojournalism. This year’s two grant recipients have been selected: Daro Sulakauri (@darosulakauri) will continue her investigation into the systematic trafficking of newborns in Georgia, using archives and contemporary photographs; and Sandra Mehl (@mehlsandra) will begin a new project on young people caught up in conflict: “Israel/Palestine: young people in the turmoil of war.” 🔗Visit the link in our bio to learn more. 📸© Daro Sulakauri, 2025 Françoise Demulder Grant winner. The caption: Nana, Mtskheta, Georgia, September 9, 2025. “I feel like half of myself is missing,” says Nana, who believes her daughter is still alive. She’s convinced that the doctors lied to her, that her baby didn’t die after birth, as they claimed. She gave birth to her daughter in 1992. #visapourlimage2025 #visapourlimage by @darosulakauri$

I received the Award of Excellence from @thealexiagrants

Thank you to the jury for recognizing this work, and to everyone who trusted me with their stories along the way. This project has been a long process in the field, and this recognition means a lot as it continues.

Congratulations to all the honorees!

Stolen Babies of Georgia projected at @visapourlimage in France, Perpignan. Part of Françoise Demulder award. Meaningful to see the work presented here.
Investigation that has lived with me for years, and one that carries the stories of so many families still searching for answers.

We’re proud to announce that American photojournalist Nicole Tung (@nicoletung) is the winner of the 2026 Anja Niedringhaus Courage in Photojournalism Award!

Her award-winning body of work chronicles 13 years of conflict in Syria and Ukraine, documenting the devastating human cost of war and the resilience of communities living through it.

This year’s honorable mentions recognize two exceptional photographers whose long-term projects shed light on overlooked injustices:

✨️Viviana Peretti (@vivianaperetti - @vivianaperetti_analogue) for "Limbo," a powerful exploration of the enduring impact of forced disappearance in Colombia on families, memory, and the nation.

✨️ Daro Sulakauri (@darosulakauri) for "Chasing Shadows," an investigation into stolen babies and illegal adoptions in Georgia, revealing how hidden crimes continue to shape identity across generations.

Congratulations to this year’s winner and honorees whose visual storytelling bears witness, preserves memory, and inspires accountability.

In-depth interview with Amnon Bar-Tur (@amnon.bt ) felt like a rare opportunity to pause and reflect on photography. In our conversation the focus moved beyond images, towards process, ethics, and the histories I carry into the work. Amnon, Thank you, so much.

I strongly recommend spending time with Hot-Mirror, a photo publication engaging with the many incisive, insightful minds shaping the stories behind the photographs.

COSA PUÒ ANCORA LA FOTOGRAFIA? ✨️📸✨️

Non quando scatta, ma quando sceglie di fermarsi.
Davanti all'altro. Dentro una storia difficile.
Lì dove il reale fa male.

Tre sguardi diversi, stessa domanda.🧐

Con @piovanopablo, @pierpaolomittica e @darosulakauri abbiamo provato a parlare di questo: non solo di immagini, ma di ciò che le rende possibili.
E necessarie.

Un frammento del nostro talk di settembre. 🎞
