Thank you @independentshortsawards for awarding @lovebug_short as Best Fantasy Short 2026. 🏆

Wild to think we shot this so many moons ago in Austin - in just five hours - after our incredible cast + crew had already worked a full day on @fearwalkingdeadamc (sleep was optional). All credit belongs to them.

Huge love to my co-director and DP @jala.trautmann, who I proudly share this award with. We did it, habibi!

Very grateful this weird little film of ours is now crawling its way around the world... 🪳

Starring: @alyciajasmin, @austinamelio, @colby.minifie, @craignigh

Dir: 👋 + @jala.trautmann
DP: @jala.trautmann
Producer: #CrystalMunson
Writer: 👋

Also had the pleasure of joining three brilliant filmmakers on the festival’s industry panel, to swap stories about the strange acts of madness we endure to get a movie made.

Thank you @clermontisff for an absolutely incredible and crazy screening of @snakedickmovie. Seeing the film in a sold-out theater of 1400 people was INSANE. Never have I seen a festival audience with such passion for shorts — with people lining up for 2hrs beforehand to guarantee a seat!

Thank you to everyone who programmed us as part of the ‘Bloody Girls’ line-up and championed our film. To be selected at the largest short film festival in the world is an honor and screening experience I will never forget. And, of course, it’s one I share with all the cast, crew & collaborators who brought their unique talents to this weird little cult movie of ours.

A few other films from the festival I need to shout out:

Congrats to the entire @cwsupermanandlois team for a much-deserved @saturnawards! I will be forever grateful to this wonderful show & the even more wonderful people behind it for giving me my start directing TV in the US. I learnt so much & made so many lasting friendships, no matter where my TV career takes me, all dots will connect back here. Such a shame this season is the last — but what a way to go out!

Props to @chipeyt @gregorythesmith @fletcher4stunts @kriskorzec @louism44 @iansamoildirector @chadfkenn @warnerbrostv @thecw @gberlanti, all the incredible cast, crew and everyone else in front of and behind the camera who made this show such a joy to direct, and crafted a version of #Superman that finally embodied his most famous line from the comics: “𝙄𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙆𝙧𝙮𝙥𝙩𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙢𝙖𝙙𝙚 𝙢𝙚 𝙎𝙪𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙣, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙞𝙩’𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙀𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙨 𝙢𝙚 𝙃𝙪𝙢𝙖𝙣.”

TV is nothing without 𝙒𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨 & 𝘼𝙘𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙨. If there’s one thing this strike has exposed, it’s just how much their talent and sacrifices have been undervalued.

As former DGA pres. @pkcbarclay once put it, in the world of TV we directors are “𝘪𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘢 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘭 𝘪𝘯 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘦𝘭𝘴𝘦’𝘴 𝘬𝘪𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘦𝘭𝘴𝘦’𝘴 𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴.” We can bring our favorite spice, but ultimately we’re always a guest in another person’s house. Well, those houses are built none more so than by the tireless work of the casts and scribes who pour their lives into creating the best show possible, episode after episode, season after season.

So in appreciation to the ones who make the real magic happen, I wanted to share some of my favorite scenes I had the (comparatively easy) job of directing in the marvelous kitchen that is @cwsupermanandlois. Not the flashy action and VFX sequences (which are of course tons of fun to shoot) but the scenes where it’s just the simplicity of great actors and great words telling the story. That’s honestly what I love most about the show — the moments these canonic characters feel grounded and human to the point we can see ourselves in them.

For someone like me, who grew up inhaling @superman comics and lore, the value of real people playing these beloved personas can never be replicated by AI. Nor could it ever match the meticulous story design and artistry of writer/showrunner @chipeyt and all the other brilliant minds/writers who make the series what it is (@gberlanti @fletcher4stunts @kriskorzec @rinamimoun55 & so many more).

These people love, live and breathe these characters in ways no machine ever can. That’s why when this strike ends, I hope it’s because they finally got the deal they deserve.
