THE RITE is a transdisciplinary hybrid between performance and rave that, for several hours, transforms Grube[n] into the trembling, breathing, pulsating site of a contradiction. in strawinsky's Le Sacre du Printemps, the ‘chosen one’ dances herself to death under the eyes of ‘wise men’ - a dance to the point of exhaustion from which new strength for the community is to be gained. THE RITE takes up this motif in order to counter its singular protagonism and binary regimes of the gaze with an experience of collective exhaustion. inspired by the importance of dance and club culture in queer communities, strawinsky's arrangement is thus juxtaposed with an alternative form of community-building. THE RITE is a collective attempt to draw strength from exhaustion and a probing of the boundaries between escapism and resistance in subcultural party practices.

eine kollektive verausgabung ausgehend von motiven aus Le Sacre du Printemps
THE RITE ist ein transdisziplinärer hybrid zwischen performance und rave, der für mehrere stunden die Grube[n] in die zitternde, atmende, pulsierende stätte eines widerspruchs verwandelt. in strawinskys Le Sacre du Printemps tanzt sich das frühlingsopfer unter den augen “weiser männer” zu tode - ein tanz bis zur verausgabung, aus dem neue kraft für die gemeinschaft gewonnen werden soll. dieses motiv greift THE RITE auf, um dem singulären stellvertreterinnentum und binären blickregimen ein erlebnis kollektiver verausgabung entgegenzusetzen. alle blicken einander an, alle erleben sich sowie einander in verausgabung. inspiriert von dem stellenwert, den tanzen und clubkultur in queeren communities haben, wird strawinskys anordnung so eine alternative form von community-building nebengestellt. THE RITE ist versuch, kraft zu schöpfen aus der erschöpfung und ein abtasten der grenzen zwischen ausflucht und widerständigkeit in subkulturellen partypaktriken.
