Yan Shao on the quantum side of her practice - our first reel in a series on her “electron_matter” piece. A short experimental film built to make quantum physics felt rather than explained, starting with a single electron alone in the void: uncertain, unstable, meeting only itself before it ever becomes part of an atom.

“At the Salton Sea, the white beaches are not made of sand... but of layers of shells, bones, and salt.”

Yan Shao on the salt-shaped side of her practice - walking through two projects on disappearing bodies of water: Lived In A Sea, a website built as a monument to the barnacle shells accumulating along the Salton Sea shoreline, and left to feel that wind, her ITP thesis, a customized CNC water-dripping system that slowly traces the receding border of the Great Salt Lake.

Sam Price on Boxels – his just-finished Parsons MFA thesis, a display system that doesn’t just depict material reality but participates in it through illumination, kinetics, and physical presence.
