Another great 2 weeks at the Litchfield Jazz Camp!!! Led two combos (one with my old friend Peter McEarchern), a big band, and played on the Litchfield Jazz Festival gala performing Don Braden's great charts with a wonderful group of faculty. Busy 2 weeks but always feeling inspired by seeing many ld friends and making some new ones. Thank you for having me! Looking forward to next year! taken in Litchfield Jazz Camp by @daveballou

Ok- bear with me. Wednesday, August 5 I have two great gigs but they happen to overlap.
Tom Teasely and I are playing duo at 7 pm in Alexandria, VA starting at 7.
The awesome quartet with John Lee, Mike Kuhl, Jeff Reed and me will be returning to the Bluebird the same night starting at 8.
Due to unavoidable circumstances, we couldn't move either concert to another night- SO- I'll be making y way to the Bluebird after the set with Tom.
Meanwhile, John, Mike and Jeff will be playing the first set trio and (hopefully) I will be there for the second set.
Please join us for at least one of the concerts. Or come to both!!!! I will!
Thanks to Tom and Charlie Ballantine for creating these great opportunities!!! by @daveballou

Sad story- good ending! Back in February, my new Schilke B1 fell out of the case onto a tile floor. The 3rd valve was done for!!! Stuck half way down and would not budge. After a moment of freaking out and feeling like the Monty Python cartoon foot had squashed me- I reached out to the person I trust most with repairs Chris Cromer. He calmly told me to bring it in and it should be fixable. Well, after many weeks of patience and ordering several mandrels to work the damaged valve casing, I have to report my B1 is back in action, like new!!!!! Chris Cromer is THE guy for bass repair and now has woodwind specialist in his shop. Trumpet players in Philly and the DVM know Chris and his patient, detailed work and now you do too!!!!! THANK YOU CHRIS!!!! taken in A minor Tune Up Brass & Woodwind Services by @daveballou
