My first Grand Slam ☺️. At the beautiful Pilliga Ultra event.

I had a running goal for this year to go back to the true grass root Trail running events, and to run with my dog Safi. I found The Pilliga Ultra by @forwildplaces, a charity dedicated to make a difference and be a loud voice for the protection of the wild.
I love that! In my 12 years of being smitten with the adventures of trail running, I have also seen the change and commercialisation taking too strong of a hold.

So off me, Dave and Safi went to the beginning of the outback, an often overlooked part of New South Wales. The huge area which is the Pilliga forest is under threat from coal gas mining, as the fossil-fuel giant Santos is planning to build 850 gas wells through the forest.
This charity gives all funds raised back to the community groups and organisations working hard to protect the area.

FRIDAY: 10km run with Dave + Safi. Dave was amazing. It was super technical, 98% single track and extremely tricky to run with Safi on a lead but she did cross the finish line as the winning dog. 🥇
Live music, yummy dinner, meeting lovely people and watching the sky full of stars was our night with the temperature dropping to-2. 🥶

SATURDAY was my solo 50km run. It started on frosty grounds but rose to +33 within hours. It was the toughest 50km I’ve run due to the heat, for sure. And getting lost. And the fact that I did 53.5km 🤪. Great support from Dave and Safi 🫶! I’ve never been so close to crying in an ultra marathon before and all by the very thought of running again the following day!!

But I think the amazing pizza @pilligapottery fixed it all and the SUNDAY 20km was in fact the most enjoyable run of them all! 👌

What a great experience this was and I’m stoked that my love for trail running can be done with a greater purpose; to help protect our precious planet we get to live on! by @daveoconnor77

Very lucky to had the chance to surf the Bombie with Lex,Flynn and friends a few weeks ago. I only caught 1 small wave in the scheme of thing’s thankfully, but a cool experience to be out there in all the energy with your kids. I was in ore of camaraderie, bravery of all. I often look at my own life as a story book. Whilst I am hopefully only slightly over halfway through the book, I question what kind of end to the book do I want?

There are certainly different chapters; boring sections, exciting parts, many downturns and equally upturns… Either way I want it full and enlivened!!

I am not trying to live my life through my kids, I am thinking the actual opposite; that they inspire me to be better than I am, stay in the game for longer.

At 16, I certainly had not lived like my 1:st born, @lex.oconnor . I only left Australia for my very first time at 19. Times and expectations have changed!

I loved my upbringing and super thankful for it. In the contrasting way my own kids now grow up, I am stoked that I have an amazing Swedish partner Pia @_young_yogis that pushes me and the kids to see new boundaries that are outside our comfort zones! ❤️❤️

I love this shot! @solgruendling @lex.oconnor they started walking to the beach together from 9 or 10 years old, every morning at first light.
They have pushed each other to their limits and beyond ! and had each others back since 2 years old in and out of the water. ❤️❤️❤️ by @daveoconnor77
