Staten Island Shakespearean Theatre Company Presents

Nevermore: The Imaginary Life & Mysterious Death
of Edgar Allen Poe

A musical by Jonathan Christenson

Nevermore – The Imaginary Life and Mysterious Death of Edgar Allan Poe is a unique and wildly theatrical musical play combining haunting music and poetic storytelling to tell the fascinating and moving life story of iconic American writer Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849). Poe struggled with tragedy and addiction, poverty and loss, yet produced some of the world’s most original, visionary and enduring literature before dying in unexplained circumstances at the age of 40. At once gorgeous and grotesque, Nevermore blurs the line between fact and fiction, exploring the events that shaped Poe’s character and career and giving powerful expression to Poe’s words “all that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream.”

Our visit to Pitcairn Islands was probably the best day I've had during my sea travels. Best known for the mutiny aboard "HMS Bounty" in 1789, most of the 50 inhabitants are descendants of the mutineers. The island is incredibly remote and very difficult to visit, with only about 2 out of 12 ships per year successfully setting foot on the island. Big shoutout to Captain Ertan, the #SeabournExpeditions team, and the deck officers and able-bodied men of #SeabournPursuit, who worked so amazingly hard and seamlessly together to make this happen. @seabourncruise taken in Pitcairn Islands by @daveresultan
