🚨 TEN WAYS IS BACK 🚨
🥁 Drums are DONE 👌

Featuring:
📸 1st pic – @davetyoung (Devin Townsend Project/Band), @mikeyoungbass (Mother Mother/Devin Townsend Band), @erik.severinson and yours truly on drums.
📸 2nd pic – Ten Ways with @jvpsounds back behind the board… stirring up a storm once again 🌪️🔥

So why are we back?

Last year I was doing a studio session and Mike dropped by to say hello. We started talking about an unfinished song he and Dave wrote around the time we recorded “The Solution” in 2010. I said, “How cool would it be to finally put real drums on it… and have Erik bring it to life vocally?”

A few coffee meetings later ☕️
Studio booked.
Game on.

We tracked drums at the beautiful @armourystudios here in Vancouver 🇨🇦 with my brother Jason (who recorded “The Solution”) capturing it all once again. Full circle moment.

About the song…

⏱ 25 minutes long.
🤯 As prog as it gets.
⌛️ Time signatures.
⚡️ Tempo changes.
🎶 Technical passages.
🥁 Groove throughout.
🎤 And Erik bringing melody and depth that takes it to another level.

I split it into 5 parts.
Friday load-in.
Saturday sound design + Part 1.
Sunday Parts 2–5.

It was intense. Ideas evolving in real time. Learning sections on the spot and hitting record. This is why I always teach my students to improvise, you never know when you’ll be called to step up in the studio.

I’m beyond stoked about the drum sound and the takes we captured. My @sonordrumco SQ2 was recorded beautifully. Big thanks to my brother, Jay! Beyond grateful for ALL the gear I endorse and get to play/record with 🙏❤️🥁

Now Dave, Mike and Erik will take it across the finish line.

Stay posted… this journey isn’t over 🔥

Ten years ago @mikeyoungbass @ryanvanpoederooyen @erik.wav and I released The Solution. Crazy how time passes. One of my favorite musical endeavours. Self-produced, co-written and a true collaboration. Still available everywhere if you'd like to have a listen👍🏼.
