1000 DAYS SOBER. Holy shit, this is a proud moment.

I said one day I’d be proud of myself. Today I am. ❤️

At the start of this video, that’s me sitting in a hospital bed just after being resuscitated. I remember looking into that camera and saying that one day I’d look back and be proud of myself.

Well, I stuck to my word.

1000 days later, I’m not only celebrating a milestone I once couldn’t imagine reaching, I’m holding my book in my hands for the very first time.

The addiction, chaos, mistakes, pain and lessons are all in those pages, but for the first time, my past feels like something I can carry instead of something that carries me.

Sobriety hasn’t given me a perfect life. It’s given me the chance to actually live one.

1000 days ago I was fighting to get my life back. Today, I’m holding the story of how I did it.

And yes TinMan officially comes out 27 October.

1000 days. I kept my promise. ❤️ by @davey_lloyd

Sometimes we can’t truly tell what’s behind a smile, because each one can carry a different story.

As Men’s Mental Health Month comes to a close, I want to share a piece of my journey with you. I’ve decided to reveal the darker side of my addiction and the transformation I’ve undergone to become a healthier, happier version of myself. For years, I masked my emotions with substances, stuck in a vicious cycle of self-destruction. It was a huge challenge to create this video, especially showing myself vulnerable and crying. Growing up, I thought I had to fit the ‘tough guy’ mold, suppressing emotions and never letting myself cry. Even when I was on antidepressants, I felt numb. But now, I’m breaking free from that.

Over the past 19 months, I’ve turned my life around. I’ve started my own building company, rediscovered my love for surfing, and faced my demons head-on. If you’re struggling, I want you to know that it’s possible to change. If I can do it, you can too. My vulnerability is my strength, and I hope it inspires you to open up and speak your truth. It’s okay to talk, lads. Let’s break the silence and support each other.

As I share my story, I want to use my platform to help others who are struggling or know someone who needs help. I believe that mental health shouldn’t be a taboo topic, especially among men. We don’t have to suffer in silence. By speaking up and being honest about our struggles, we can create a ripple effect of support and understanding. If you’re struggling, please know that you’re not alone. There are people who care, who want to listen, and who want to help. Let’s work together to create a community that encourages openness, empathy, and compassion. Let’s show the world that it’s okay to not be okay, and that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

This used to be my life. Drugs, alcohol, parties and chaos.

But what you saw was only part of the story.

Writing Tin Man changed my life, and I truly believe it could change yours.

BOOK COVER REVEAL!! 📖

After months of going back and forth, changing ideas and questioning what really represented this story, we finally landed on the cover. The reveal is at the end.

My book is called TIN MAN: Why I Traded Sex, Drugs and Parties for Sobriety.

And I haven’t held much back.

This is a memoir about the life I lived behind closed doors, from the parties, sex, drugs and reality TV to the much darker side of addiction that very few people actually saw. I talk about the chaos, the lies, the people I hurt, the things I was running from and just how far addiction eventually took me. There are also some stories and secrets from my reality TV days that I’ve never spoken publicly about before. 👀

But this book isn’t just about how bad things got. It’s about what happened when I finally stopped running and started rebuilding my life.

I talk openly about sobriety, the person I am today and what I’ve learnt through getting clean, therapy, recovery and facing parts of myself I’d spent years avoiding. I’ve also created my own 8-step self-help guide, using the tools, lessons and experiences that genuinely helped me change my life.

I didn’t write TIN MAN to glorify the chaos or pretend I’ve figured life out. I wrote it because I’ve lived both sides of it, and if being completely open about my story helps even one person recognise something in themselves, or realise they’re not too far gone to change, then every uncomfortable page was worth writing.

From the life everyone saw, to the life almost nobody knew about.

This is TIN MAN and will be out on the public on the 27th of October- available for PRE SALE soon. Stay tuned.

I chose to keep pushing through the hard times. There were plenty of days I wanted to throw the towel in. Mornings where getting out of bed felt impossible. Days where the old life seemed easier.

But I kept choosing a better life. I kept showing up for myself, even when I didn’t feel like it. That’s where real growth happens. Not when you’re motivated, but when you stay committed despite how you feel.

Along the way, I didn’t just get my mind right. I got my body right too, and picked up a few new tattoos while I was at it.

This isn’t vanity. It’s two and a half years of discipline, recovery and becoming someone I’m proud to be.

READ BELOW.

People ask me all the time, what do you do now to get that release? How do you deal with stress, what’s your outlet when life gets heavy? At first that question stumped me because I was looking for one answer. Was it the gym, my morning coffee, getting outside, or simply waking up with a clear mind that isn’t constantly chasing something?

The more I thought about it, the more I realised it’s all of those things. It’s a collection of small wins that slowly build into something bigger. Training when I don’t feel like it, listening to my mind when it’s telling me to give up and pushing through anyway, reflecting on some of those darker times and allowing myself to look back at where I came from compared to where I am now. Sometimes that reflection alone gives me the release I used to spend so much time chasing.

That’s the difference I’ve found between drugs and sobriety. Drugs gave me that release instantly, but it disappeared just as quickly and always left me wanting more. Sobriety is a slow burn, you have to work for it and allow those small wins to build, but holy fuck, when they do, you realise just how much better the real thing feels. by @davey_lloyd

To my oldest and dearest friend, we’ve spoken about this day since we were young, and now it’s finally here. You’ve been such a monumental part of my life, and although our friendship has been tested over the years, we’ve always found our way back to each other stronger.

Some of these photos don’t depict the lives we live today. Yes, there’s drinking, partying and plenty of questionable decisions, but they’re part of our story. They show where we’ve been, what we’ve come through and how much we’ve both grown.

Today is your day, mate. You’re marrying the love of your life, and I couldn’t be happier for you, Bel and darling Kaia. I’ll always be there for your little family, including babysitting duties when Mum and Dad need a date night. by @davey_lloyd

People always ask me if I ever regret going on Bachelor in Paradise, and sometimes I do think about it. There’s no denying that experience brought a lot of stress and chaos into my life, and there were definitely moments that took their toll on me. But whenever I really sit with the question, I always come back to the same answer- no, I don’t regret it.

Because amongst all the chaos, I walked away with one of my best friends for life. And for that alone, I’ll always be grateful I did it.

Tara, matey, you’re one of those rare people who just gets me, and I get you. There’s never been any judgement or expectation between us, just this unwavering support for each other through every version of life we’ve both gone through. Through the good, the bad and everything in between, I know I’ll always have you and you’ll always have me.

Funny how sometimes something that brought so much chaos into your life can also give you one of the best things to come out of it. ❤️ by @davey_lloyd

People keep asking if I’m excited about my book. I am, but truthfully, I’m fucking terrified.

These pages hold my deepest secrets, and I know not everyone will like what they read.

But this isn’t about me. It’s about creating a space where people feel safe enough to be vulnerable, speak openly about their struggles, and realise they’re not alone.

If my story helps even one person find the courage to ask for help, then every uncomfortable truth was worth sharing. by @davey_lloyd
