Mairead De Barra passed away and we are all stunned. Mairead kept us all smiling with full stomachs through @eltonjohn FYBR tour and I will miss her terribly 💔 by @daveyjohnstone

In April 1972 I walked into Manny’s Music Store in NYC with @eltonjohn , @nigelolsson and the late great Dee Murray. Elton asked me to pick out a guitar for him - I saw this gorgeous black 3 pick up Gibson Les Paul Custom DeLuxe and said, “That’s the one!”
The following year when I had several guitars stolen, Elton gave me this Les Paul and it’s been on all our major records and tours for over 50 years.

Fifty years ago in April, the “Louder Than Concorde (But Not Quite As Pretty)” tour set off, and what an extraordinary chapter that was. Night after night, sharing the stage with this wonderful band, making music, travelling together, and living through moments that have stayed with me ever since. There was a real spirit amongst us — musically and personally — and I look back on it all with enormous fondness and gratitude. The years may pass, but those memories never fade. ✈️🎶

The Jig’s Up! Actually it’s a reel in the tradition of Celtic fiddlers and pipers but written by me for mandolin. Have a lovely May 🌟 by @daveyjohnstone

This is “Big Billy” written for my pal Billy Connolly. Excuse the slight breakdown in the middle and a few fluffs from being out of practice!

This beautiful Takamine nylon string Spanish guitar was used on the Lion King recording of “Can you Feel the Love Tonight” by Sir Elton John and Sir Tim Rice. I am donating it as part of the live auction to benefit Hillsides. Stay tuned next days for link and an opportunity to bid and support.
